'He can barely run straight'published at 12:30 British Summer Time 31 May 2016

    Football

Germany boss Joachim Low has been speaking about leaving winger Marco Reus out of his Euro 2016 squad.

The Borussia Dortmund player, who turns 27 today, also missed the 2014 World Cup because of injury.

"The medical staff could not give a clear prognosis for Marco," Low said. "He has massive injury problems and the medical staff was very sceptical about his ability to last through the coming weeks and such a gruelling tournament.

"It is a bitter decision and bitter for Marco."

Germany and Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira said: "He can barely run straight at the moment and you have to be fully fit if you play in a European championship.

"It is very bitter but I am confident he will get his chance on the big stage. "He was very calm and composed in accepting the decision."

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

"New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho spent seven hours at the club’s Carrington training complex yesterday.

"It does not look like he will be being joined by Monchi, who has just left his position as Sevilla’s sporting director.

"United have never had a sporting director, preferring to place responsibility for team affairs solely in the hands of the manager and there is no sense at Old Trafford that system is going to change.

"Mourinho is due to speak with Ryan Giggs about a role within the club, although that cannot take place just yet as the Welshman is not due back from a holiday in Dubai until tomorrow.

"And there has been no word from United on former player Paddy Crerand’s declaration on MUTV on Monday that Michael Carrick has agreed a one-year contract extension."

"The kit’s shirt and shorts are constructed with recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles melted down to produce a fine yarn."
