    Tottenham playmaker Heung-Min Son says that speculation linking him to a move back to Germany is not good news.

    The 24-year-old is reportedly a target for Wolfsburg with Spurs keen to recoup much of the £22m they paid Bayer Leverkusen last August.

    "I haven't heard anything about my transfer," he is quoted as saying in the London Evening Standard., external

    "It's not a good sign that transfer rumours are coming out, but I think it's meaningful that those in Germany acknowledge me."

    Will Manchester City's star striker Sergio Aguero be suspended for the derby against Manchester United on 10 September?

    The 28-year-old clashed with West Ham defender Winston Reid in Sunday's 3-1 win at the Etihad and could be subject to retrospective punishment.

    The Football Association could make a statement on the case today. 

    Sun assistant sports news editior Phil Cadden believes it could be bad news for City.

    Aston Villa are in advanced talks with Bristol City striker Jonathan Kodjia in a deal that could rise to £15million. 

    Hull and Derby are also chasing a player who is hot property, having scored 20 goals last season and is expected to leave the Championship side in the next 24 hours.

    And Villa have failed to land Hull's Abel Hernandez. Agreement was reached with Hull but the move fell through over Hernandez's personal terms.

    As well as Andy Murray, there are five other Britons in action on day two in New York and two of them will be playing each other.

    Laura Robson (below), who came through qualifying and is gradually working her way back from a serious wrist injury, faces world number 82 Naomi Broady.

    They are third on court 13 after Heather Watson, ranked 73, has got us going when playing Netherlands' Richel Hogenkamp at 16:00 BST.

    Dan Evans is also an early riser, playing American Rajeev Ram on court four at the same time. 

    At the other end of the day, Aljaz Bedene has got a tasty opener, taking on combustible Australian Nick Kygrios on the old Grandstand court at, roughly, 22:00 BST. It could well be later though.

    There is nothing quite like a night match under the lights on Arthur Ashe stadium.

    Andy Murray faces that prospect tonight when he kicks off his campaign against Lukas Rosol around 02:00 BST, following women's world number one Serena Williams who plays Ekatarina Makarova.

    Rosol famously shocked the tennis world when he defeated Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon in 2012 and world number two Murray will be hoping there isn’t a repeat tonight.

    We'll have live text and BBC radio commentary in the early hours if you fancy giving sleep a miss.

    It's been a good start for the Britons at the US Open with Johanna Konta beating Bethanie Mattek-Sands in straight sets to join Kyle Edmund in round two.

    Konta, the British women's number one, won 6-3 6-3 and faces Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova next in New York.

    Earlier Edmund, ranked 84th, made short work of 13th seed Richard Gasquet, winning 6-2 6-2 6-3 and plays American wildcard Ernesto Escobedo on Wednesday.

    Defending men's champion Novak Djokovic needed treatment to his right arm and wasn't entirely convincing in beating Poland's Jerzy Janowicz in four sets. But he got the job done.

    There are plenty more Brits in action today...

    Striker Mario Balotelli appears close to a move to Nice and an end to his dismal spell at Liverpool.

    The Daily Mail, external report that the 26-year-old will conclude his switch on a permanent deal before the end of the transfer window.

    They add that winger Lazar Markovic and defender Andre Wisdom are set for temporary moves to AC Milan and Red Bull Salzburg respectively.

    Yesterday, in an interview with O Jogo, 27-year-old Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva appeared to confirm that a £21m move to Leicester was on.

    But Sporting have now had their say.

    They have issued a six-point statement, external blaming his agents for "destablising" Silva and insisting that they intend him to see out his career in the capital.

    Hull City expect to conclude the signing of Will Keane from Manchester United.

    It is likely to be a busy couple of days for Hull, who started the season with just 13 fit senior players.

    The Tigers are targeting up to six new signings as temporary manager Mike Phelan looks to bolster his squad.

    And Keane could well be the first.

    The 23-year-old has been capped at all England age-group levels but has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford, and has already had four spells away from the club on loan.

    Sky Sport News Germany are reporting that Bayern Munich are keen on a deal for Arsenal's 21-year-old German international Serge Gnabry.

    Gnabry was joint top-scorer at the Rio 2016 tournament with six goals for his country. He moved to Arsenal from Stuttgart in 2011 and Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has said that he wants to extend his contract at the Emirates.

    It is believed his current deal expires in summer 2017.

    1987: Lloyd Honeyghan knocked out American Gene Hatcher in Marbella, Spain, to retain his world welterweight title. He won in just 45 seconds which was then the quickest world title stoppage in history.

    1991: Bob Beamon's 23-year-old world long jump record was broken during the World Championships in Tokyo. Carl Lewis beat Beamon's leap of 8.90 metres with 8.91m, but due to wind assistance, Lewis was denied a place in the record books. His team-mate Mike Powell then jumped 8.95m to secure the gold medal and take his place in history with a record that has not been surpassed.

    2004: Sir Bobby Robson was sacked as manager of Newcastle United. He took up the role in 1999. Sir Bobby became an honorary freeman of the city of Newcastle in 2005.
