Daley Blind has been one of the successes of Manchester United's season so far.

The Dutchman was thought likely to be one of the victims of Jose Mourinho's appointment as Louis van Gaal's successor.

But in both central defence and at left-back, Blind has been a dependable presence under the new regime.

Player and manager will be talking to the media shortly.

Who should be the next permanent England manager?

Alan Rolfe: Nobody seems to be mentioning Tony Pulis as a possible England manager.

Christian Evans: Pochettino for next England manager. Tactically brilliant and can get the best out of Kane, Alli, Rose, Walker et al.

Andrew Neill: Wenger has said he's not interested until his contract is up at Arsenal. Maybe install Hiddink until then to start the work?

"English football at all time low" - Terry Butcherpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 28 September 2016

    Football

    Terry ButcherImage source, Getty Images

Former England captain Terry Butcher has been speaking on BBC Radio 5 live about Sam Alladyce's resignation from the England manager role.

He said he was “absolutely shocked and sad to see Sam go because I thought he was the right man for the job. I was really looking forward to him having a long and successful career with England”

On the situation with English football, Butcher said, “I didn’t think English football could really get any lower after Iceland – now we’re really at an all-time low. I think Alan Shearer said it well on the BBC website - it really is the lowest point of English football”

In terms of finding a permanent replacement for Allardyce, Butcher had some thoughts on the nationality of his successor.

“I would hate for us to go foreign again – I think you still need an Englishman in charge of the national team. [Because] you need communication, you need understanding.”
