Here is some more from Scotland boss Gordon Strachan ahead of Saturday's qualifier with Lithuania which is followed by a trip to Slovakia on Tuesday.

The Scot said both opponents have "good players" and are "good teams."

He added: "Lithuania is not a must win game. Winning (in Malta) makes you feel good.

"I have put some thought into the Slovakia game but we're concentrating on the Lithuania game. I know what we'll do against Slovakia as I've watched them in Euros."

'FA looks dysfunctional'published at 10:15 British Summer Time 28 September 2016

    Football

    BBC Radio 4

Daily Telegraph football correspondent Jason Burt: "There is a real fear that in football there's so much money in the game that it is encouraging people to be greedy.

"Obviously managers, agents and players believe they have short careers and believe they can chase the money and that's a culture that needs to stop.

"I wasn't involved in the investigation, but my understanding is that they worked in prima facie evidence. it wasn't a journalistic fishing exercise. I think the FA needs to look at itself. This morning it looks like a dysfunctional organisation. They need to ask questions of themselves as to how they reached a decision to appoint Sam Allardyce."

'Allardyce had to go'published at 10:01 British Summer Time 28 September 2016

    Football

    BBC Radio 5 live

Former England defender Danny Mills: "He put the FA in a difficult situation. They had to make a stand. Had he not gone by mutual consent he would have probably been fired. It was a huge error of judgement by Sam Allardyce.

"He didn't do anything illegal but morally - and you're only two to three weeks into the job - their biggest problem would have been, being on £3m and to then start chasing money elsewhere that would have been a problem.

"It's a huge embarrassment for everybody. I don't think the FA had much of a choice."

    Who should replace Allardyce?

Stewart Ogden: I think Vicente Del Bosque with Eddie Howe as assistant. Experience + young talent for 2 years, then Eddie to continue onwards

James: Not Howe. If this had happened 2 years ago it would have been all Garry Monk, now stuck at Leeds. Howe could go the same way.

Martin Hardy: Above all else I want the @FA to show they have a strategy/long term plan. How do we want to play? Then find the right man.

Sam Allardyce: 67 days in 67 seconds

Our chief football writer Phil McNulty has been explaining why he believes the FA had to be strong and let Sam Allardyce go as manager.

He says that the FA, "as guardians of the rules and the body that judges others", felt Allardyce's actions "weighed too heavily against him".

"If the FA felt there was any justification for keeping Allardyce, it would surely have given him the benefit of the doubt," Phil writes.

"There will have been no serious appetite for the decision that was eventually taken unless it was unavoidable."

'Would Wenger want the stress of England job?'published at 09:22 British Summer Time 28 September 2016

    Football

    BBC Radio 5 live

More from Match of the Day pundit Danny Murphy: "I would prefer an Englishman... but Arsene Wenger would be fantastic but I don't know if he'd want to give himself the stress.

"Eddie Howe is a fantastic young manager but I do understand the risk of a young man going into the job.

"Crucially, before we start talking about what's next, If the Daily Telegraph has got evidence of other managers being corrupt, manipulating the system, we need to hear about it now, we need to get it out. The FA need to hear about it.

"How can we move forward in trying to appoint a new coach or manager when we don't actually know yet which ones are being accused of being corrupt."

Who next for England and why?

Rico: Steve Bruce is the obvious. For a start he was in consideration earlier and he's available. He happy to be 2nd choice though? But personally I'd like to see Southgate get it. Give him a chance and I think he'd help restore some reputation to the team.

Santa Deerhound: Must go to someone who knows how to win. Not Hodgson, Allardyce, Pardew, Bruce, Howe. Winning 1st, image etc. 2nd

Ashley Bebbington: Eddie Howe for me. He's not the most experienced candidate, but his achievements with Bournemouth show his quality.
