TV personality and wife of the England captain, Coleen Rooney has tweeted her support for her husband: "Love the way anyone and everyone has to have an opinion. Lighten up, life is short, give people a break. Some forget others have feelings too."

Among the many replies, one Manchester United fan tweeted: "When you can check your bank account every four weeks & have comfortably over £1 million in there, people have the right to judge."

Mrs Rooney then hit back saying: "FANS should be positive about their TEAM (not just one player) preparing for the game tomorrow.

"When you have a six-year-old son listening to them, it's not nice".

"It's feelings that matter ....we're not plastic, he's not plastic we are people."

Unlikely Wimbledon hero Marcus Willis will take on some of the biggest stars in tennis and have a chance to win $250,000 (almost £202,000) in a single night after being given the last spot in the "Tie Break Tens" contest in Vienna.

Willis, who won six matches to reach the main draw of Wimbledon and eventually went down to Roger Federer in round 2, joins Andy Murray, Dominic Thiem, Jo Wilfried Tsonga, Tommy Haas and Goran Ivanisevic.

“The opposition isn’t very good, is it? joked Willis.

“In a three-set match against guys like Andy Murray, Dominic Thiem and Jo Wilfried Tsonga I would be unlikely to win, but in Tie Break Tens in a first-to-10-point tie-break? I think I could win a 10-point tie-break against anyone".

The event takes place on October 23rd in Vienna.

Your reaction to the news that Wayne Rooney will be a sub against Slovenia

Christopher Clee: He's not exactly playing well enough to earn a start. This is the problem with having an established captain at international level. It becomes difficult to drop him.

Danny Younger: What about the others it's not just him from front to back just not good enough.

Leslie Nuttall: The opposition know him too well. We need to change things around.

Slovenia coach hopes Rooney does not playpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 10 October 2016

Slovenia v England (Tuesday, 19:45 BST)

Slovenia coach Srecko Katanec says he would prefer England to not play captain Wayne Rooney for their World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

"Wayne Rooney is a leader of this team, he has the experience a captain needs and it is quite hard to substitute him or leave him out," Katanec said.

"Because of his experience and quality I would rather he would not start than he does start."

Rooney is set to start as a substitute for the game.

Scotland can get a positive result in Slovakia if they employ a high-tempo strategy, says Steven Pressley.

The former international defender watched Slovakia lose in Slovenia on Saturday, providing a report for Scotland manager Gordon Strachan.

"If you allow them to get a rhythm, they can be a very effective team," Pressley told BBC Scotland.

"Slovenia were aggressive out of possession, they pressurised them and didn't allow them to settle."

Your thoughts on Wayne Rooney starting on the bench against Slovenia

Shane: As a United fan I'm shocked at the support by some for Rooney to keep starting for England - He's been poor for weeks now.

Johnny Magrinho: I can't think of any other English player with as much desire to play for England as Rooney. He's something of a talisman. A good team is a good team because of chemistry, unification & sharing a common goal, not because of individuals.

Your thoughts on Wayne Rooney set to be a substitute against Slovenia

Simon Hawkins: Southgate talks of being brave enough to drop Rooney but isn't it braver to stand by him with fans criticism of the captain?

Ismaeel A: Rooney gives 100% every time he plays for England. England greatest goalscorer. Needs a top performance to keep critics quiet.

Martini Rossineri: If players are going to be dropped for poor performances we will have Rashford in goals and at full back and centre back and on the wing and midfield and upfront. Haha what a farce. The media are picking the team.
