William Gray: Sissoko a bullet worth dodging? Lot of money to pay for someone who's obviously not all that interested in playing for Everton?

alf: No confirmation for Luiz to Chelsea as of yet, what is going on...nervous Chelsea fan here.

It looks like Moussa Sissoko will go to Tottenham. Everton had agreed a £30m fee, they had everything ready, a plane to fly him up, they then couldn't get hold of him to confirm the arrangements. In the meantime Daniel Levy came in at the last minute and agreed the same fee. Now Sissoko has one choice after Everton withdrew their interest.

The big news in Italy is that Juventus' attempt to sign Belgian international midfielder Axel Witsel from Zenit St Petersburg for £17m has failed.

The two clubs apparently agreed a fee, only for Zenit to perform a u-turn over the move.

Witsel is out of contract in June and Gazzetta dello Sport believe that the deal will be revived in January. , external

So, with over £300m spent, 11 players signed and 14 released – albeit most of them on loan – Manchester United and City have done their business.

The final act was City loaning Jason Denayer to Sunderland for the season, the fifth international to leave the Blues today.

Between them, the Manchester clubs have broken the world transfer record – for Paul Pogba – and the British record for a defender – John Stones.

Joe Hart found a new home. Bastian Schweinsteiger did not.

Now Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho can begin plotting for an equally important D-day. Their next game, the Manchester derby, at Old Trafford on 10 September.

The money is bonkers. The financial gain now for players is incredible.

But I've always said it and I stick to my guns, it's a very short career. The amount of payers that don't make it, it's a very difficult game, thousands don't make it and you invest tens of thousands of hours before you earn a penny in football.

There's so much money in it for a reason, supply and demand. People demand to see the Premier League, if anyone is going to get the financial gain, surely it has to be the players, they are the ones who make it happen.

As much as possible should go back into grass roots, but the players have a long time retired after football.

Jack Wilshere is a brilliant singing for Bournemouth but I think Arsenal are a joke, He should have stayed, he is good enough to get in Arsenal's team, Why not just sell him? Why put him out on loan?

Freelance writer Gareth Davies is the '30 Years On' author for Bournemouth's match programme.

"The signing of Jack Wilshere is nothing short of sensational, but totally understandable as the loan deal seems to benefit all parties. If - and it's a big if - he can stay fit, Bournemouth will undoubtedly benefit from having one of English football's brightest talents in their squad, one which has been trimmed further and now looks better equipped for Premier League football with the departures of Eunan O'Kane and Rhoys Wiggins completing a busy but productive window at Dean Court."
