Image source, Getty ImagesWigan Athletic will build a statue at DW Stadium to commemorate president David Whelan's 80th birthday, the club have announced.
Whelan bought Wigan in 1995 when they were in the fourth tier of English football and his investment, including the building of the DW Stadium, saw them reach the Premier League in 2005 where they played for eight years before relegation in 2013.
The bronze statue will be of Whelan holding the FA Cup which the Latics won in 2013 by beating Manchester City.

Today the left-armer took his second five-wicket haul in as many days against Zimbabwe.
Herath now has 51 wickets in just eight matches this year.

The defender, 34, said she is "looking forward to her next chapter" and said a record 14th Women's FA Cup trophy for Arsenal at Wembley Stadium in May will "forever be etched in her memory".
She started her career at Arsenal in 1999 before spells with Charlton Athletic, Chelsea and Lincoln before rejoining the Club in January 2014.
Stoney also has 129 caps for England and also captained Team GB at London 2012.

Four-time Olympic champion Ben Ainslie and his Land Rover team are bidding to be the first British team to win the America's Cup in 165 years.
Ainslie was part of Oracle Team USA, who won the last edition of sailing's famous trophy in 2013.
In 2017, he hopes to lead a British team to victory when the series concludes in Bermuda.

The 35-year-old has scored six league goals this season, including two against Swansea City on Sunday ending a two-month league drought.
United have made an inconsistent start to Jose Mourinho's reign at Old Trafford and are sixth in the table.

The 22-year-old was replaced by Keelan Giles in Wales' squad for the autumn internationals on Tuesday after being injured during the second half of Wales' 32-8 loss to Australia.
Newport said Amos will undergo surgery next week.

Sanchez picked up a "low grade muscle injury" ruling him out of Chile's World Cup qualifier in Colombia on Thursday.
Originally Chile's medical staff said he could return for the home game against Uruguay next Tuesday but the Sun say, external Sanchez could be out long-term.
A six-week absence would rule him out of Arsenal's Champions League match against PSG on 23 November and Premier League games with Bournemouth, Southampton, West Ham, Stoke and Everton.

Image source, ReutersDelays in redevelopment may lose Headingley the chance to host international cricket for four years, Yorkshire chief executive Mark Arthur has warned.
Rugby league club Leeds Rhinos, who share the use of one stand with Yorkshire, announced that a planned £38m upgrade, to begin in January, was being put back because of "complex planning matters".
The Rhinos are able to continue has normal but improved facilities were key to Yorkshire's hopes of hosting England fixtures between 2020 and 2024, which are awarded next year.
Arthur believes the county could miss out on the fixtures all together and not be chosen to host matches at the 2019 ICC World Cup in 2019.
