'His potential is greater and higher than Everton'published at 14:17 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2016

In a pretty maverick twist, Everton manager Ronald Koeman has been quoted as saying striker Romelu Lukaku, 23, will need to leave the club to fulfill his potential.

He told Belgian newspaper HLN: "I gave him confidence and he has himself recognised that it was good for his development to play another year at Everton.

"What after this season comes, no-one knows.

"If Romelu was to play at Everton until the end of his career I know he has left something [behind]. His potential is greater and higher than Everton as a final destination."

The Dutchman goes on to compare Lukaku to Patrick Kluivert and says he could play for Barcelona too.
