    Jockey Paddy Brennan has clocked up his 1,000th jumps win in Britain and Ireland - on Colin's Sister at Warwick.

    Brennan reached the landmark on the 13-8 favourite, trained by Fergal O'Brien, in the mares' novices hurdle.

    The 35-year-old Irishman, who won the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2010 on Imperial Commander, said: "My ambition ever since I came to England was to ride 1,000 winners and win a Gold Cup.

    "I count myself very lucky. It's a landmark I'm very proud of."

    More from Mansfield's new manager Steve Evans who is confirmed to have signed a two-and-a-half-year deal.

    "The chairman and the CEO have given me assurances that they'll back me when the window opens," he said.

    "We're going to live and breathe this project.

    "I'll be my usual self (on Saturday) It's a very passionate management team that the fans have got." 

    Mansfield chairman John Radford added: "We were looking around for a manager and who better than Steve Evans? We wanted someone with as much ambition as me and I think we've got that."

    Steve Evans is already setting his sight's high after taking over at Mansfield who are seventh bottom in League Two.

    "I've not joined Mansfield Town to be in League Two for very long," he said.

    "We'll meet the squad tomorrow. There's no time for big speeches."

    Evans' last job was at Championship side Leeds United but the 54-year-old was sacked in May.

    "It's been good to have a break, but it's time to come back to work," he said.

    Barcelona have signed a four-year shirt sponsorship deal with Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten which will earn them over £200m.

    The La Liga champions will earn 55 million euros (£47.2m) each season, starting in 2017/18, plus performance-related add-ons.

    And Barca president Josep Bartomeu reportedly , externalrevealed that the agreement came about after an initial meeting organised by Barca defender Gerard Pique.

    The website says Southgate is the only serious contender for the role.

    The former Middlesbrough manager ended his four-game tenure as interim manager unbeaten after a 2-2 draw with Spain last night.

    He says: "It is a no-brainer for me, how can I not go back to this club? Did I believe they would (come in for me), yeah, I believed they would. I couldn't turn this club down.

    "I came here when I was 29 years old, I ended up making my dream happen. I was a lower league player and had a huge part in making us as successful as we were.

    "I played 150 times and it was the best days of my footballing life."

    West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell said it was "a dream come true" to make his England debut on Tuesday during England's draw with Spain.

    Cresswell came on as a 79th minute substitute for full-back Danny Rose.

    Former Wales defender and Coventry City captain Sam Ricketts has announced his retirement because of injury.

    The 35-year-old, who also played for Swansea City, Hull, Bolton Wanderers, Wolves and Swindon Town is suffering from a knee problem and has decided to quit on medical advice.

    Ricketts, who played for Wales 52 times, made his final appearance in the Sky Blues' 3-0 defeat at Charlton on 16 October 2016.

    "It's been a fantastic journey," Ricketts said in a statement. "I am grateful to all of the managers, coaches and teammates I have had the honour of working with and learning from throughout my career."
