My Saturday league team got to 2 cup finals last season, against the same team. Leading the first one at half time but went on to lose after having a man sent off, took the second one to extra time and conceded a 120th min goal to lose 1-0! Played them again in an earlier cup round 6 days ago, 1-1 at 90 mins after dominating, we went 2-1 up in 110th minute, then 2-2 in 115th, conceded a penalty in the 120th minute and lost 3-2 with the last kick of the match! Can't get much more of a curse than that!

Lens a disgrace - Moyespublished at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2017

    Football

    Jeremain LensImage source, Getty Images

Sunderland manager David Moyes has labelled Jeremain Lens - who is on loan at Fenerbahce - "disgracefully disrespectful" after the midfielder said it would be "easier" for him if the club were relegated.

Lens was signed by Sunderland in 2015 but was sent out on loan by Moyes last summer.

The Dutchman reportedly said:, external "I hope I could get a signature that will allow me to stay here.

"I do not want to talk about my contract, but many things will be easier if Sunderland drop down."

At today's press conference, Moyes said:, external "I came in off the training ground and someone said, 'Have you seen this?' If he said that it’s a disgrace to say that about your parent club.

"A lot of team-mates here who he played with are fighting every week with a small squad to try and keep us in the Premier League.

“I don’t know if anybody would want him back at the club now. If the quotes are correct then I think it would be very hard for that to happen."

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is back in training, but manager Pep Guardiola warned that "he needs some time" to reach his "top level".

Kompany has played just three league games this season, and has not appeared since suffering knee-ligament damage against Crystal Palace on 19 November.

That was his 35th separate injury since joining City from Hamburg in 2008.

"Everybody needs time when they have been a long time injured, but his mentality is strong," said Guardiola.

"What I would like is for him not to put a lot of pressure on himself. He has to feel that his manager and team-mates will give him the time he needs after a long time away from the pitch."

Guardiola said he was in contention to return against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, but that he was undecided whether to include him in his Champions League squad for the knockout stages of the competition.
