Get Involved - feeling blue on Blue Monday?published at 16:49 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2017

    Text 81111

It is Blue Monday - apparently the most depressing day of the year - so we've been asking if you are depressed or happy about your team?

I'm actually not feeling too bad. Mainly because both my teams (Fulham & the Pittsburgh Steelers) won this weekend

    Matthew, Aldershot

As a Birmingham City fan, I'm feeling all kinds of blue on this Blue Monday. Can somebody tell me why we sacked our manager when we were inches away from the playoff places? We literally haven't won a game since

    George Clark (concerned Bluenose)

As an Evertonian, I'm having a right Royal 'Blue Day'....with no sign of any depression! Thanks Lads!! COYB!

We brought you news of Valtteri Bottas joining Mercedes as team-mate to Lewis Hamilton earlier.

It might not surprise you to learn that Finn Bottas, who moves from Williams, is rather pleased to be driving for the team that has dominated Formula 1 for the past three season.

"It's very exciting times for me," said Bottas, whose best F1 results so far are two second places, at the British and German grands prix in 2014.

"I think it's going to take a while to understand that this is really happening.

"It's definitely another dream come true, to race in another team with such great history - especially in the recent years, which have been so impressive.

"I think with Lewis we are going to be a strong pair together. I really respect him as a driver and a person."

Flying bat fractures Nevill's jawpublished at 16:37 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2017

    Peter NevillImage source, Getty Images

It's been a rough week for Melbourne Renegades wicketkeeper Peter Nevill who sustained a suspected fractured jaw earlier today when he was hit in the face by a cricket bat during his side's Big Bash win over Adelaide Strikers.

Nevill was looking the other way when he was hit in the 18th over of the Strikers' unsuccessful run chase.

The bat slipped out of Brad Hodge's hands, flew into the air and the handle caught Nevill on the cheekbone as he stood behind the stumps.

The 31-year-old left the Adelaide Oval with a visibly swollen face.

It is the second time in a week Nevill has been forced from the field with a head injury, after he was hit by a fielder's throw against Sydney Sixers., external

Panesar to work with Australiapublished at 16:20 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2017

    Cricket

Former England spinner Monty Panesar is to work with the Australia team before their Test series in India.

The 34-year-old has been playing grade cricket for Sydney side Campbelltown.

Panesar toured India on three occasions and took 17 wickets when England won 2-1 in 2012, their first series victory there for 27 years.

The left-armer will advise Australia's batsmen and slow bowlers before they depart for the four-Test series, which begins on 23 February.

Panesar's stint in Australia is part of a bid to return to his best on the field amid mental health problems.

More analysis on Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Liverpool yesterday.

Aggression on the field, emotion in the stands and a disagreement between the respective managers - yesterday's Premier League draw had all the intensity you would expect from Manchester United against Liverpool.

Inevitably the managers disagreed, Jose Mourinho insisting they were the only team trying to win the game, and Jurgen Klopp suggesting the home side had resorted to long ball football to fashion an equaliser.

Neither of these sides may end up champions in May, but their resurgence under their respective bosses suggests this won't be the last clash of the two we see on the touchline.

Ireland hooker Sean Cronin is expected to miss the Six Nations Championship because of a hamstring injury.

Cronin's club Leinster said on Monday that the 30-year-old had sustained a high-grade tear which could rule him out for 10 weeks.

The injury, sustained in Leinster's recent Pro12 win over Zebre, was initially thought to be a minor strain.

The news is a blow to Ireland as Cronin was the main cover for skipper Rory Best at hooker.

Ireland's first Six Nations match is away to Scotland on Saturday, 4 February.

Manchester United celebrate their equaliser against LiverpoolImage source, Getty Images

Some analysis on Manchester United's 1-1 draw against Liverpool yesterday.

A draw was the least Manchester United's performance against Liverpool deserved, and for the equaliser to come just six minutes from the end made it feel more like a victory.

However, the reality is this was an opportunity missed to close the gap on their rivals from Merseyside and Manchester City, and Jose Mourinho's side now find themselves losing ground to the weekend's victors - Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea.

The gap to the Blues at the top is now 12 points, which would take a Herculean effort and a lot of good fortune to overturn and looks unlikely. Securing Champions League football remains the priority though, and that is within reach.

The Brazilian striker is the most valuable player in Europe - worth about £216m - according to a new study, external which values 10 players at more than 100m euros.
