'I could have died' - Brighton's Goldsonpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 17 July 2017

Brighton defender Connor Goldson says he could have died on a football pitch had he not undergone heart surgery. The 24-year-old has not played competitively since January after the discovery of a swollen aorta left him fearing for his career.

Goldson made his Brighton comeback in a friendly with German side Fortuna Dusseldorf in Austria last week and is now preparing for life in the Premier League following the Seagulls' promotion.

"I could have carried on playing and it could have carried on growing and maybe nothing would have happened," he told The Argus. , external

"But if something did happen you wouldn't be able to tell what was going on and it would have been death straight away on a football pitch, no chance of resuscitation or anything."

A beaming Olivia Breen comes over to speak to BBC Radio 5 live. It's a remarkable turnaround for the 20-year-old who finished 12th in this event at Rio last year.

"I've moved to Loughborough to train. I knew I had to change something and it's been the best change ever. This is a dream come true," she says.

"I'm so happy. I knew I had to be on my form and it's so exciting. It's amazing to have all these children watching today."

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has been "hard done by" and deserves more respect, West Ham United captain Mark Noble says.

Hart, 30, is set to join the Hammers on a season-long loan after spending part of last season on loan in Italy with Torino.

Noble has called for the England international to be given more respect.

"I've known Joe for a long time, we played for England U21s together years ago," Noble said.

"In my opinion, he (Hart) has been a little bit hard done by in recent years. He has been fantastic for England and for his club for the last 10 years, and he probably deserves a little bit more respect."

    Wimbledon 2017

Federer is asked whether, as he approaches his 36th birthday, he takes inspiration from other sporting greats who have remained at the top for a long time such as sprinter Usain Bolt.

He says: "I get inspired in a big way by the likes of Usain Bolt, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Valentino Rossi or Michael Schumacher, guys who did things for a very long time at the highest of levels.

"I would marvel at what they did when I was younger. I couldn't understand how they would get ready, day in, day out, practice, giving it 100%. I struggled with that in a big way when I was younger.

"Eventually I have found my way to see what is possible and how to motivate myself. It's been really important in my life to be surrounded by inspiring figures. I take it mostly from sporting legends."

Roger Federer tells Russell Fuller: "I had an amazing amount of friends and family who came from all over the world to support me.

"There was almost 80 of us celebrating. That was a beautiful moment, celebrating away from the press and the world watching for about an hour.."

Russell asks him about Pete Sampras' tally of seven men's singles titles:

"It's very special but it's boderline strange for me because he will always be my hero. Pete is still my guy. After our match in 2001, there is no way I would have thought I could surpass him, I never thought that would be possible in my wildest dream.

"Yesterday was another an incredible day for me here at Wimbledon. Wimbledon has been too kind, too nice to me all these years. To be the record holder is so special. Pete remains my hero for life, of course."
