They really should certainly have the measure of France. In fact, they could catch them!

Cycling: Women's team pursuit first round
The Italians ended Britain's hopes of gold in the men's team pursuit, and it could well be gold for Italy in the women's event as well as they have just comfortably defeated Germany in their semi-final.
Great Britain or France will be their opponents later on.

Just what Jason and Laura Kenny are doing is amazing. It puts everything into perspective as a mum. Laura hasn't got that worry now.
It doesn't matter if she doesn't have a gold medal. She will go home to a beautiful baby boy. She seems so relaxed and that makes me smile. She is so happy and that's the most important thing.

It was a good effort but these are the races where they'll be trying to find the perfect quartet to go on and compete at the Olympic Games.
The experience of riding together as a team definitely helps. Every race, they're learning. The data they'll get from this is incredible.
They'll be disappointed not to make the final, but I think that's the best they've got at the moment.

That's a really fast time (3:54.778 from Italy, compared to 3.56.007 from Great Britain). You have to hand it to Italy, it was really cleverly done.
Britain paid a price for starting at the kind of speed they did. It's a very mathematical event.
Cycling: Men's team pursuit first round
A stunning start from the British quartet, but Italy took the lead and came strong when it mattered. They take the victory and will now challenge Switzerland for the gold medal later today.
But for the British four - Ethan Hayter, Charlie Tanfield, Steven Burke and Kian Emadi - they can now only win a bronze at best. They take on Germany at 18:31 BST in that bronze medal 'final'.

A great start for the British four. Have they gone too early though?

The synchronised swimming has been keeping us entertained in the BBC office this afternoon.
The Michael Jackson 'Thriller' themed routine from the Greece pair was probably the highlight for us - the judges disagreed though and Russia claimed their second sychronised swimming medal of the afternoon.
