  1. 'Hughes should win it'published at 20:27 British Summer Time 7 August 2018

    Men's 100m final (20:50 BST)

    Michael Johnson
Four-time Olympic gold medallist athlete on BBC TV

Zharnel Hughes is the favourite now, he's smooth out of the blocks, he's very relaxed and the time that he ran was impressive. The competition will be better than it was in the semi but if he can come back strong, run his race, and not make any mistakes, he should win it.

Duckworth finishes down in seventhpublished at 20:24 British Summer Time 7 August 2018

    Decathlon - 400m

Tim Duckworth goes off hard, too hard.

The Briton - who was leading the decathlon before this event - tightens up dramatically over the final 75m and he ends up in 49.87 seconds. That is a second down on his personal best.

He might just stay at the top of the standings overnight. But what could have been.

  4. 'Can't depend on Vicaut'published at 20:21 British Summer Time 7 August 2018

    Men's 100m final (20:50 BST)

    Michael Johnson
Four-time Olympic gold medallist athlete on BBC TV

Jimmy Vicaut, you can't depend on him. Everyone wants to see the best race we can, without Vicaut it isn't that, except from a British point of view.

Vicaut ran a championship record in the semi-finals and now he's not here.

Jimmy Vicaut has been injured - he pulled out of the French championships - and maybe it's something that is reoccurring but it is always the same.

  6. Report - Vicaut out of 100m finalpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 7 August 2018

    Men's 100m final (20:50 BST)

This is a biggie as rumours go.

France's Jimmy Vicaut, who set a championship record of 9.97 seconds in qualifying to apparently put concerns over a possible injury to bed, has reportedly pulled out of tonight's final.

We are awaiting confirmation. Or, of course, a denial.

    Women's 100m final (20:30 BST)

    Denise Lewis
Olympic heptathlon gold medallist on BBC TV

You could be fooled into thinking she is coasting but then you look at the time (in the semi-final). It is another sub-11 second run. Really, really good. She has done it all season. That composure that she has in the final 30m now is what she has been missing.

    Women's 100m final (20:30 BST)

We wondered how Dina Asher-Smith would deal with being favourite to take this title but she is looking so good! She is a picture of relaxation and maturity. Looking very, very good.

    Women's 100m final (20:30 BST)

    Michael Johnson
Four-time Olympic gold medallist athlete on BBC TV

The time between the semi-final and the final can be tricky, because you won't want to cool down too much.

You have to be careful of managing your time and make sure you still get a really good warm up. You often see athletes running faster times in the final than the semi-final.

Some great shots coming in of the warm-up area where the women's 100m finalists are keeping their muscles warm and their minds cool.

Dina-Asher Smith sits in the shade, with a 1000-yard stare and her accreditation as a make-shift fan.

Dafne Schippers stares at the skyline with pursed lips as she jiggles some life into her hamstrings.

Home hope Gina Luckenkemper is more smiley, having a laugh and a joke with someone off screen.

Maybe that is what home advantage looks like.

    Women's pole vault qualifying

Holly Bradshaw makes light work of pole vault qualifying.

One vault, one 4.50m clearance, one spot in Thursday's final booked.

Great Britain team-mates Molly Caudery and Lucy Bryan can't join Bradshaw, but teenager Caudery came away with useful experience and Bryan picks up a season's best clearance of 4.35m.

Great Britain's Tim Duckworth leads the decathlon after a superb 2.17m personal best in the high jump.

Next up is another of his strong events. His 48.78 400m time earns him a place in the fourth, final and strongest heat.

If he performs as he can, he should put more margin between himself and nearest pursuers Martin Roe and Fredrik Samuelsson.

Hang on a second. Andy Vernon is keeping tabs on the leading pack.
