Reece Prescod's new personal best of 9.96 puts him 12th in the world this year.

There was no wind in either direction apparently. He could go faster and over the final 30m there is something genuinely Bolt-like about his top-end speed.

Now just to nail the start and drive phase and we are really talking...

It's easy for athletes to become complacent and lose focus with the nature of social media and the media in general, because they become celebrities a lot faster.

I think these guys have seen the British athletes who have been up there with the very best - not just being the best Brits - but global superstars. And the new crop are thinking, 'I want to be up there with the best'.

They need to continue with the hunger and the desire that they've had to win these medals.

Gold medallist Zharnel Hughes speaking to BBC: "I am happy and the job is done. I felt a bit of cramp so I don't think I could have gone any faster but I'm just happy.

"Reece Prescod is a fast finisher so I knew I had to stay relaxed as he would challenge me towards the end. I am happy that we came out victorious."

Silver medallist Reece Prescod speaking to BBC: "It was a really good race and I got a good start. I finished strong too. I am really happy. I have had a really good season.

"I wanted some consistency and I think I have got that now. It is good to have a British one-two. Sprinting is in a good place right now. It's nice to have someone pushing you. We push each other hard and we run hard. I hope it continues in future Games."

Tonight's result is a first senior championship title for Zharnel Hughes.

That milestone would have arrived back in April, but halfway through his lap of honour after crossing the line first in the Commonwealth Games 200m final he was disqualified for impeding Jereem Richards.

Nice to see one stick for him.

Zharnel Hughes has proved his point by backing it up with performances time and time again. Great job from both of our guys. I think there is still loads to come from Reece Prescod too. But sprinting is looking good in British athletics.

It was the race, because it was the two guys who were in positions to win it.

Zharnel Hughes lived up to the billing of favourite, but Reece Prescod coming in with a huge personal best.

It's not just the medals for them - it;'swhat the medals mean. So kudos to both of them.

Tonight is the first time that Reece Prescod has clocked a legal sub-10 second time.

He managed a wind-assisted 9.88 seconds in the United States in May, but he has the consolation of a personal best and a shattered barrier to go with his silver medal.

Usually with a rivalry that tight - Prescod won by a narrow margin at the British Championship in Birmingham last month - there is some friction.

Really well done to Zharnel Hughes. He was under a lot of pressure and he didn't get the kind of start he did in the semi, which would have put him under a lot of pressure because Reece Prescod comes through so quickly.

But three of the top four are Brits - it bodes well for the relay.

It's easy to be the favourite coming in, it's much, much harder to deliver it.

Reece Prescod remind me of Dina Asher-Smith because he is so level-headed as an athlete and he is so calm and focused.

He had a horrible start earlier today, but that's the way he starts, that's his technique.

I suspect Zharnel Hughes and Prescod will both do pretty well this evening.
