Two-time European champion Sergey Subenkov is the world number one and is in absolutely blistering form.

The Russian clocked 12.92 - a new personal best - in Hungary last month. It was one of three sub 13-second trips this year.

No one else has been broken that barrier globally in 2018.

Good luck to the rest in this first semi-finals. France's Aurel Manga and Germany's Gregor Traber will lead the chase.

Kat's had a great day so far today.

Coming away from the javelin with a smile is incredible for KJT.

It's also a huge relief for Kat to put a 6.44 out there on the long jump straight away.

I saw Thiam do what she has done with that javelin in Rio, and that was with a strapped up arm.

She is an incredible thrower and we'll have to see what happens in the 800m.

...then launch a personal best in the javelin as Nafi Thiam struggled in her first two throws....

...but Thiam produced an extraordinary final effort of 57.91m to swing things on their head and give her a lead worth around 13 seconds heading into tonight's final 800m.

KJT joined the sporting applause, but I think her face told the real story.

"I was scared of Alistair - but he's not in shape right now, I could see it but he will be back for sure."

    'Top 10 is surreal'published at 18:10 British Summer Time 10 August 2018

    Triathlon

Britain's Barclay Izzard, 20, speaking to BBC Sport after finishing ninth in the triathlon: "I came into this race for experience, I sat in there on the bike as knew Alistair Brownlee was up there so there was no point helping the rest to chase him down. Then I tried to race the run and I'm super happy with that.

"This race was mainly for experience and to come in the top 10 is surreal. I didn't expect to do that. I had a foot injury for six weeks so I've not run much - so to do that with minimal running, I'm real happy with that."

Brownlee misses out on medalspublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 10 August 2018

    Triathlon

Alistair Brownlee speaking to BBC Sport after finishing fourth in the triathlon: "I knew I was going to struggle on the run as I've not done enough sessions yet, but I enjoy racing.

"The swim was really hard, I got really beaten up at the start but that's all part of it. On the bike I got a group working but I couldn't really do anything on the run."

On not having his brother Jonathan to work with: "Most of the guys wanted to ride, they just don't know how to make a group go faster so some of them just get in the way. But it was a hard course and it was difficult to get a group moving on it.

On his preparations: "I have had a terrible six months. I've literally had a handful of run sessions and so off that I can be quite pleased. I'm just happy to be racing.

"I didn't really know what to expect, I've been training hard and so I knew I was going to be tired going into it."
