And that's us done after a great game in Kansas City, where the Chiefs staged a thrilling comeback from 24-0 down to beat the Houston Texans and advance to the AFC Championship game.

Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes threw for four touchdowns in the second quarter to overhaul the Texans' early lead.

Last year it was the New England Patriots that stopped the Chiefs reaching the Super Bowl, before clinching their third title in five years.

This year it's the Tennessee Titans that stand in their way. The Titans may have come into the post-season as the AFC's sixth seed but the Chiefs would be foolish to take them lightly, especially after they upset the Patriots and top seed Baltimore in the first two weeks of the play-offs.

Kansas City have reached the AFC Championship game for the second year running and are now just one win from Super Bowl 54.

Their last Super Bowl appearance? Super Bowl 4.

Yep, they've not reached the big show for 50 years!!

But turning back to Kansas City, let's remind ourselves just how big an achievement that was for the Chiefs.

They are the first team to win by 20 points in the post-season after trailing by at least 20.

  10. Mahomes - Kelce's a monster!published at 23:38 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2020

FT: Kansas City Chiefs 51-31 Houston Texans

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes: "Obviously we didn't start the way we wanted but I just said 'let's do something special, take one play at a time' and it's a huge win.

On tight end Travis Kelce, who claimed three touchdown passes and continued playing with a hamstring injury: "I've just said to him 'man, you're a monster!' The way he was fighting through with an injury and making plays all day long - he's a special player and we've got to get him right for the next game.

On facing Tennessee: "It'll be a tough game, they battle to the end and are playing really good football right now. We just have to find a way to win, no matter what."

Patrick Mahomes takes a knee on three straight plays to see it out. What a game. Records falling all over the show.

And it means that Kansas City will host the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship game next Sunday.

But Houston can't manage one more touchdown. Three Deshaun Watson passes go incomplete before he's sacked by Frank Clark for a 17-yard loss. The Texans have to hand it over on downs with 1:34 left.

The Texans are pushing for a late consolation score though, Deshaun Watson finding Taiwan Jones for 14 yards to make it 1st & Goal right before the two-minute warning.

The other turning point? After that field goal, Mecole Hardman returned the kick for 58 yards to rouse the Arrowhead crowd.

Two plays later Patrick Mahomes finds Damien Williams for the Chiefs' first touchdown. Then within 9 minutes 5 seconds they'd scored another three - all through Travis Kelce.

The turning point? Probably a couple.

When leading 21-0 early in the second quarter, Houston were 4th & 1 on the hosts' 13-yard line and settled for a field goal rather than going for a fourth touchdown.

That made it 24-0. But what if they stretched their lead to 28-0?

Kansas City punt after going three-and-out as Tony Romo makes a good point on the American commentary.

The Chiefs have pulled off the fifth biggest fightback in play-off history. But they didn't do it in one game, they did it in one quarter.

Must be the biggest ever fightback in one quarter.

Sorry to disappoint you folks but I think we're done in Kansas City.

The Texans are battling on gamely. But they make just 33 yards from nine plays on that drive before handing it over on downs.

For anyone new to the NFL, the Chiefs have just served up a '50 burger'.

Presumably followed by a slice of humble pie for Deshaun Watson after his air guitar earlier.
