Matt Freemantle: I hear so many British people saying the NFL is boring. I will use this game as my go-to example of how wrong they are.

Ben Dunbar: This Texans @ Chiefs game has been the archetypal half of 2 quarters. If it remains the same in the 2nd half then surely it's an all-time classic.

    Breaking

Kansas City Chiefs 34-24 Houston Texans

Patrick Mahomes rushes for another first down, then Damien Williams burrows over from a yard for his second touchdown.

He gets a flag for taunting but the score stands. Kansas City have scored five TDs in 12 minutes of game time. Relentless.

Harrison Butker misses the extra point though.

Kansas City Chiefs 28-24 Houston Texans

It's looking like it...Patrick Mahomes stares at the left side then switches to the right to find Sammy Watkins and the receiver runs out of bounds for a 48-yard gain.

Mahomes then scrambles for another 14.

The Texans kick to Kansas City to get the second half started. Will the carnage continue?

Neil Kennedy: WOW!! Absolutely bonkers game at Arrowhead. Just when you thought Houston Texans had it in the bag, Chiefs woke up and had a 2nd quarter to (in my opinion) match Doug Williams in Super Bowl XXII. More of the same in the 2nd half please!

Stephen Bentley: Probably the craziest first half of any NFL game ever. Is that a record score?

  8. Half-timepublished at 21:54 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2020

Kansas City Chiefs 28-24 Houston Texans

After an exciting start in San Francisco last night, it failed to live up to expectations as the 49ers cruised to victory over the Vikings.

But man has this one delivered. The Texans charge into a 24-0 lead, then the Chiefs reply with 28 unanswered points in the second quarter to lead at half-time.

And what's more folks, we have another half to go!! At least...imagine if it goes to overtime!!

No joy for Deshaun Watson on the next play, he has to throw out of bounds. He then runs out of bounds short of first down.

Ka'imi Fairbairn will come on to attempt the biggest field goal of his career.

And he screws it wide from 51 yards. Finally...we're at the half. I need a lie-down.

    This is mind-blowing.

Deshaun Watson finds DeAndre Hopkins for 38 yards. Houston are up to the Chiefs' 39.

Watson spikes the ball to kill the clock. They've 38 seconds.

No, Patrick Mahomes released the ball just in time, and the ruling stands.

He becomes just the second player to throw four TD passes in one quarter in a post-season game.

Harrison Butler adds the extra point. And we STILL have 44 seconds left in the half.

    Breaking

Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 Houston Texans

    Are you kidding me?!

Demarcus Robinson drops an easy pass from Patrick Mahomes before the Chiefs QB scrambles on third down. He offloads it to Travis Kelce for ANOTHER touchdown.

It'll be reviewed though. Was it an illegal forward pass?

  13. Postpublished at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2020

Kansas City Chiefs 21-24 Houston Texans

The crowd, and Travis Kelce, have stepped up big time in the second quarter.

After scoring two touchdowns, the tight end makes a 20-yard catch. Patrick Mahomes then scrambles for another 14. What a game!!

  14. Postpublished at 21:37 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2020

Kansas City Chiefs 21-24 Houston Texans

Kansas City get it back with almost three minutes left in the second quarter. They're not going to take the lead before the half, are they?

They might. Patrick Mahomes has just scrambled for 21 yards, takings the Chiefs up to Houston's 34-yard line at two-minute warning.

  15. Postpublished at 21:34 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2020

Kansas City Chiefs 21-24 Houston Texans

Houston make a couple of first downs but then get a bit desperate.

Deshaun Watson makes a short pass to DeAndre Hopkins but he runs into a dead end and shovels a hospital pass back to the quarterback, who fumbles but is able to recover it.

The Texans have to punt after six plays.

After that touchdown, the Chiefs kick to the Texans. DeAndre Carter runs it back but fumbles it in the tackle, giving the ball straight back to Kansas City again.

Darwin Thompson recovers it and runs it to within six yards of the endzone.

    It's carnage in Kansas City!!

No, it's a fake punt from Houston. Justin Reid scrambles for first down but he's stopped just short.

The Texans will have to hand it over on downs on their own 33-yard line.
