  1. End of the first - Can Pats answer back?published at 01:51 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

New England Patriots 0-14 Buffalo Bills

This is exactly where New England did not want to be, down two touchdowns and not being able to get any pressure on Josh Allen.

They're not really built to go toe-to-toe with this Bills offence in a shootout, so they'll need to get some points here then try and get a stop just to steady the ship.

  2. touchdown

New England Patriots 0-14 Buffalo Bills

Buffalo score again, on a long drive again, and it's tight end Dawson Knox, again!

More magic from Josh Allen on that drive with his arm and his legs - especially a third down conversion from close range when they went with an empty backfield and five receiver spread.

The gaps then in the middle meant he could power right up the gut and even take on the linemen, he's that big and that powerful as a runner.

All Buffalo, trouble for New England.

  3. All Buffalopublished at 01:43 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

New England Patriots 0-7 Buffalo Bills

Isaiah McKenzie had a huge game against the Patriots last time out and he's at it again with a leaping catch for 19 yards as Buffalo get into the red zone.

  4. Knox againpublished at 01:39 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

New England Patriots 0-7 Buffalo Bills

Dawson Knox is a big dude but the Patriots can't seem to spot him as he's finding space everywhere - this time for a 23-yard pick-up on the opening play of their second drive.

  5. Bills pick off Jonespublished at 01:37 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Micah HydeImage source, Getty Images

Incredible! Mac Jones is feeling it and he fires a deep strike to the end zone and it looks like a touchdown catch for Nelson Agholor who has his arms out waiting, but Micah Hyde arrives from nowhere to take it out of his grasp.

Agholor could have possibly done more, as he was letting the ball drop when if he went up to get it he'd probably beat Hyde to the ball, but either way it's a crucial turnover.

  6. Jones on the runpublished at 01:34 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

New England Patriots 0-7 Buffalo Bills

    Who is this Mac Jones?

He takes off running for a first down now, rumbling 16 yards to get the job done.

  7. Big Mac completionpublished at 01:33 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

New England Patriots 0-7 Buffalo Bills

That is a huge play from Mac Jones on third and long, going on the run then finding his tight end Hunter Henry to move the sticks.

We've not seen much of that at all this season from Jones, he's not really had to, but the way Josh Allen has started, the Pats rookie may have to sling it a bit to keep up.

  8. What's Mac got for the play-offs?published at 01:27 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Can Mac Jones make history?

Rookie QBs don't get to Super Bowls, history tells us this, but if there's one team and one coach that could mastermind some history it's Belichick's Patriots.

Mac Jones is the first rookie signal caller in five years to get to the play-offs, and is looking to be the first since Russell Wilson in 2012 to win a game in the post season.

Belichick kind of has form for this as well, as Tom Brady was basically a rookie when he won his first Super Bowl - having made 14 starts in his second season.

In his first season he threw just three passes and even when winning it all Brady threw just one TD pass in the play-offs. Sound familiar?

    Never count out Belichick

This season may just turn out to be Bill Belichick's best coaching display - and for a guy with six rings that's some statement.

The Pats looked finished when Tom Brady waltzed off to Tampa and picked up a seventh ring leaving poor old Bill with a shell of a side.

Belichick rolled his sleeves up though, spent big in free agency and drafted a rookie QB in the first round for the first time ever - and the results are there for all to see.

They may be underdogs, but with Belichick on the sidelines they've always got a chance, just look at his record! Plus, a win here moves us closer to a possible Brady v Belichick Super Bowl. Just imagine!

  10. 'Bill Belichick's not been in a situation like this in a long time'published at 01:25 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

New England Patriots 0-7 Buffalo Bills

    Osi Umenyiora
    Two-time Super Bowl winner

We all know about Bill Belichick and his experience in the play-offs, but he hasn't really been in a situation like this in a very long time. He's got a rookie quarterback who over the last couple of games has been struggling. And they're going up against a Buffalo team who they did beat once in a ridiculous fashion (14-10 on 7 December), they ran the ball nearly 50 times. But then Buffalo evened the score (33-21 win on 26 December).

Buffalo's the more talented team. The conditions are going to be tricky but they have a strongarm quarterback in Josh Allen, who can throw the ball through a blizzard so I think he's going to be in a prime position.

If Buffalo win, I wouldn't say it's an upset because they're the better team, but with Bill Belichick and his allure, you always think that maybe he'll do it one more time.

  11. touchdown

Touchdown - Billspublished at 01:23 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

New England Patriots 0-7 Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen has started this game on fire!

After another big run, he then scrambles for what seems like an age before floating up a ball for tight end Dawson Knox to go up and grab a touchdown at the back of the end zone.

Nine plays on that opening drive, for 70 yards - 65 of those credited to Allen with 24 passing and 41 rushing. That's some statement!

  12. Great play!published at 01:19 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

New England Patriots 0-0 Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen can run, we know this, and he shows his wheels early here with a speedy 26-yard run through a gaping hole in the Patriots defence.

Allen's a big guy too but he really can move.

  13. Pats need a big run gamepublished at 01:17 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

New England Patriots 0-0 Buffalo Bills

New England's 14-10 win at Buffalo this season was a wild one, quite literally with the conditions. The Pats won with rookie QB Mac Jones throwing just three passes!

They rushed for over 200 yards though and they'll need more of the same tonight - and ideally a 64-yard TD run from Damien Harris like this one...

  16. Defensive struggle?published at 01:13 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

The Bills topped the NFL with their defence allowing just 17 points a game, and the Patriots came a close second with 17.8 points a game, so will this be a low-scoring contest?

Well, if you're not a fan of defensive football don't worry, as out of the last five times the top two scoring defences have met in the play-offs, three of the games have been shootouts!

We've had 56, 68 and 52 points in those match-ups so fingers crossed for another!

These two are bitter rivals, and they're meeting tonight for the 125th time overall, the third time this season but just the second ever in the play-offs.

They've played twice since the start of December, with the series at 1-1. The stakes for the decider couldn't be higher!

The away side has won the last three in the rivalry, and with another freezing cold game in prospect, who will battle to victory?

Joe Burrow is only in his second year in the NFL, but he speaks like a seasoned veteran even though he's just won his first ever play-off game.

"It's a great win for us, for the city, for the organisation, but we expected this, there's not going to be a big celebration like it was when we won the division," Burrow told US television.

"We took care of business, now on to the next round."

Burrow threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns for a passer rating of 110.4.
