Los Angeles Rams 7-10 San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco beginning to establish their running game at the start of this second half.

A couple of Rams penalties have not aided the hosts' cause either.

Jimmy Garoppolo connects with Elijah Mitchell and it's another 49ers first down - they are in the LA half now.

Back under way at the So-Fi Stadium.

Deebo Samuel receives the kick-off for the 49ers but his return attempt is halted at the 18-yard line.

Indeed, it's the Bengals who await the winners in LA - and Cincinnati seem pretty pleased about proving the naysayers and doubters wrong.

Paul Snowdon: The Bengals’ fans - especially those who remember Super Bowl XVI and Super Bowl XXIII as I do - will surely want the 49ers in Super Bowl LVI to exact revenge and exorcise those demons from all those years ago.

    Field goal - 49erspublished at 00:59 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2022

Los Angeles Rams 7-10 San Francisco 49ers

San Fran kicker Robbie Gould continues his perfect post-season, straight down the middle from 38 yards to edge the 49ers in front at the interval.

Los Angeles Rams 7-7 San Francisco 49ers

Another good Garoppolo throw is met with an equally good catch by Brandon Aiyuk.

However, time is running out and after Garoppolo is stopped on second down, the 49ers are settling for a field goal to end the half.

  8. Postpublished at 00:56 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2022

Los Angeles Rams 7-7 San Francisco 49ers

Huge third-down throw from San Fran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to tight end George Kittle.

Just 51 seconds in the half remaining - can the 49ers edged ahead before the break? They're just inside the Rams' half.

Oof. Deebo Samuel is down. And the 49ers will hope he's not out.

The WWE Royal Rumble was last night and Nick Scott unleashes a spear/clothesline that the gladiators of the squared circle would be proud of.

Bit of a hospital pass from San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo that one.

The officials threw a flag after the contact but they've picked it up and declared it a legal hit.

  10. That's ugly!published at 00:49 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2022

Los Angeles Rams 7-7 San Francisco 49ers

Worrying moment for Rams fans as Matthew Stafford gets swallowed up by the 49ers when releasing a pass and goes down heavily.

The pass is incomplete, out of bounds on third down, and LA are forced to attempt a 54-yard field goal, which Matt Gay hooks weakly wide and short.

Decent field possession for San Francisco with a minute and a half left until the interval.

Los Angeles Rams 7-7 San Francisco 49ers

Should be a 38-yard touchdown for LA but the ball bounces off the fingertips of Ben Skowronek who was wide open in the San Fran endzone.

We're at the two-minute warning, folks.

Kupp makes amends for the drop with a flying catch on the next play but he's a yard short of a first down.

Third and one... Sony Michel bulldozes over for a new set of downs.

  14. Postpublished at 00:41 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2022

Los Angeles Rams 7-7 San Francisco 49ers

Big third-down conversion for the Rams with just under five minutes of the first half to play as Matthew Stafford finds Odell Beckham Jr.

Running back Cam Akers is back in the game for LA too after an earlier injury and he gets another first down.

Rams approaching Niners' territory here. Oh and they should be well inside it but Cooper Kupp drops a gimme from Stafford - eyes on the endzone, not the ball.

    Touchdown - 49erspublished at 00:34 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2022

Los Angeles Rams 7-7 San Francisco 49ers

Oh well, no matter, the 49ers just give it to Deebo Samuel instead.

He's 44 yards out when he gets the ball, mind. But that doesn't bother him.

Beats one Rams defender, gets a block, beats another, and another, and dives over for a scintillating touchdown.

There are few more exciting players in football than this fella. In fact, there might not be any.

  18. Postpublished at 00:33 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2022

Los Angeles Rams 7-0 San Francisco 49ers

Good response from the 49ers as Jimmy Garoppolo finds Brandon Aiyuk down the sidelines.

That could have been a touchdown but he steps out of bounds just as he seems to be be getting free.

Los Angeles Rams 7-0 San Francisco 49ers

    Deadlock broken!

The Rams get their reward for a long, long drive as Matthew Stafford links up with his favourite receiver Cooper Kupp again.

Nice throw to the corner of the endzone and Kupp is perfectly positioned to reel it in as he falls to the ground.

    First blood to LA.
