Harrison Butker kicks the extra point and the Chiefs are 11 points up.

Mahomes is virtually unstoppable playing like this.

The Chiefs start the quarter inside the Bengals’ 40-yard line and McKinnon is really rolling, gaining another seven on the ground and then - after Mahomes’ first incompletion of the night – a catch to give his team a first down in the red zone.

Bad news for the Bengals as their star tight end looks to be out for the game after a serious-looking injury on that tipped pass.

Wow. The Chiefs are not keeping anything in reserve here.

First play of their second drive and Patrick Mahomes launches a sideline bomb to Mecole Hardman that goes for nearly 50 yards well into Cincinnati territory.

And that's the end of the first quarter.

Kansas City Chiefs 7-3 Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals have to settle for the three points as rookie kicker Evan McPherson splits the uprights.

Well, if you're a Bengals fan, you're a bit annoyed right now.

Two sucessive high passes from Joe Burrow looking for wide receivers Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase - and two, let's say, contested balls, with plenty of contact, but both are incomplete.

I've seen defensive pass interference given for less, but no flags are thrown.

Oh... but then he's almost intercepted on the next play as tight end CJ Uzomah, who limps off, tips a high pass but the Chiefs cannot quite reel the loose ball in.

Andrew Priestley: Joe Burrow has never lost a postseason game in college football and in the NFL. Last week we saw evidence of his unflappable nature in his ability to continually dust himself off after 9 sacks to close out the win. He’ll be hoping for better protection tonight though.
