It's just five years since the Philadelphia Eagles lifted their first - and only - Super Bowl by beating the New England Patriots 41-33 in an absolute thriller in February 2018.

Yet, you would struggle to find a Philly fan who thinks that team is better than the one the Eagles have now. Led by increasingly impressive quarterback Jalen Hurts, very much an MVP candidate, they have been imperious this season.

The Eagles stormed off to an 8-0 record before a surprise loss to divisional rivals Washington but then won the next five to go 13-1.

A couple of losses to Dallas and New Orleans ensued but they beat an admittedly second-string Giants in the final game of the regular season to secure the #1 NFC seed and a first-round bye in the play-offs.

The Chiefs will face the winner of the meeting between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship game next weekend.

The Bills and Bengals face off tomorrow night.

Now, though, we switch conferences as arch-rivals Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants lock horns for the right to play in the NFC Championship game.

Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce, who scored two touchdowns:

On Patrick Mahomes' injury: "You don't want to think the worst but you automatically do - he's our fearless leader, we go as he goes and even when he had to step out, he was still on that sideline making sure we were good and locked in, and that's why he's the ultimate competitor.

"We've got the ultimate team right now, we're playing great ball on all three phases."

Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes:

"It's a credit to the guys around me - the offensive line kept me clean in the pocket, knowing I couldn't move and the guys made plays around me.

"That's what a great team does - when somebody gets a little banged up, everybody around them steps up.

"They kind of gave me the ultimatum of I wasn't going back in the game unless I went in there [to the locker room to get checked out]. They are trying to take care of me but it will take a lot to keep me out of a football game.

"X-rays were negative and they haven't diagnosed anything yet but I'll be good to go."

I saw a legend being reborn, come out of the locker room after he was hurt and lead his team to victory.

The onside kick does not work.

Kadarius Toney collects it. It was a decent effort from Riley Patterson, a real bobbly, ugly one that could have caused trouble but Toney falls on it.

It's a fifth successive AFC Championship appearance for the Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The Jaguars gave it a good shot but two fourth-quarter turnovers did not help them.

Jacksonville Jaguars 20-27 Kansas City Chiefs

Less than half a minute left. Jags must go onside kick and hope they can recover it. Or it's game over.

A nice pass to Marvin Jones down the middle but Jacksonville have to spike the ball to stop the clock with 42 seconds to go.

They're on the Chiefs' 35-yard line. Trevor Lawrence airs a big one but it's tipped away in the endzone by a defender.

Zay Jones makes a sideline catch to stop the clock at 58 seconds.

The Jaguars give themselves the slightest glimmer of hope by forcing a Chiefs punt.

But they have just 1:16 to score a touchdown, then go for an onside kick and score a field goal. Can't see it.

Kansas City are running down the clock nicely now and Jacksonville are all out of time-outs.

Game over?

Under pressure, Trevor Lawrence tries to find a receiver wide right but only locates Kansas City's Jaylen Watson.

There's a penalty for taunting against the Chiefs following the pick so that backs them up a bit - but they are majorly in control now.

The Jags keep themselves in with a chance with a big defensive stop.

Three and out for the Chiefs, who will punt to Jamal Agnew - he will want to make up for that fumble but gets tackled at the 46-yard line.

Decent field position but time is Jacksonville's enemy - 4:18 remaining.

The fumble was upheld.

Could be the game's pivotal moment. Only five minutes left - the Jaguars need a touchdown and a field goal to level. And they don't have the ball.

Jamal Agnew fumbles inside the five-yard line and Kansas City recover the ball!

This will be reviewed to see if Agnew made a legal catch in the first place.

Goodness me, brilliant from Trevor Lawrence who runs for a first down on third and long...

But, hang on...

But a nice crossing route from tight end Evan Engram delivers a Jacksonville first down.

A Zay Jones catch from Trevor Lawrence follows and the Jags are back in the redzone.

But Lawrence gets greedy and goes for a touchdown on first down - it's almost intercepted by Juan Thornhill but he can't quite haul it in.

Even worse for the Jaguars, their top wide receiver Christian Kirk has been injured on the next play.

Wow. A kicker can often be decisive - but not like this.

Jaguars returner Jamal Agnew finds a route through a crowd of bodies from the Chiefs kick-off and he could well have gone all the way.

But Kansas City kicker Harrison Butker trips him with a crucial intervention. What a play from the Chiefs number seven.
