  2. Divisional Round schedulepublished at 04:24 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

    (Times in GMT)

We've still got two wildcard games left to play, but the NFL has set the schedule for the next round of the play-offs next weekend.

It's still a bit complicated with a lot riding on the Buffalo Bills' game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If the Bills win they host the Kansas City Chiefs, but if the Steelers spring the upset they'll go to Baltimore to face the Ravens and the Chiefs will host Houston. Clear as mud!

    Saturday

Texans at Ravens or Chiefs - 21:30

    Packers at 49ers - 01:00 (Sunday)

    Sunday

Eagles or Bucs at Lions - 20:00

Chiefs at Bills or Steelers at Ravens - 23:30

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff on NBC: "It means a lot, just look around, they're still cheering for us.

"It means a lot to this city. We knew what it meant when this season started to get into the play-offs. We wanted to get this win. It's just the beginning for us, we've still got some road left.

"It means a lot. This team is really special. It's about our team. Obviously I had some personal connections with the Rams, but this is about the 2023 Lions.

"We've just broken a streak that's been going on for 30 years. This is about us."

Los Angeles Rams 23-24 Detroit Lions

You wait three decades for a home play-off game, then two come around at once!

As a result of the Packers upsetting the Cowboys earlier today, it means that the Lions will be at home in the Divisional Round next week when they'll host the winner of tomorrow's Eagles v Buccaneers game.

They may not have stopped partying by then...

Dan Campbell willed this football team to victory.

Jared Goff from the opening play tonight was on it. He was confident, he believed in himself. The whole restructure of Jared Goff as a quarterback, the last three years to get him to this point, has paid itself in Detroit history.

  6. Full-time - Lions win!published at 04:02 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

That's it! The noise erupts at Ford Field, the fireworks go off, the throngs of players and staff enter the pitch and the Detroit Lions win a play-off game for the first time in 32 years!

5 January 1992 was the last time the Detroit Lions won a play-off game, and now Dan Campbell has managed to lead his team to another long-awaited victory.

It's also just a second win in 14 post-season games the Lions have played since their 1957 NFL Championship win - the predecessor to the Super Bowl.

It's been a long time coming.

  7. First down!published at 04:01 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Los Angeles Rams 23-24 Detroit Lions

Detroit get a first down at the first time of asking, with Amon-Ra St Brown catching the quick slant and fighting to just get over the first down marker.

The Rams stop the clock immediately with a timeout but they can't stop it again and the Lions are going to advance!

  8. Two minute warningpublished at 03:58 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Los Angeles Rams 23-24 Detroit Lions

Two minutes to go, one point between them, this is exactly how we like our play-off games to end. Detroit just need to keep the ball, move the sticks for a first down and the game is almost theirs.

    Can they do it?

  9. Great play!published at 03:56 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Los Angeles Rams 23-24 Detroit Lions

Lovely stop-go from David Montgomery after Jared Goff's short pass left him with plenty to do to get a first down, but he put his foot in the ground and pulled the handbrake, then accelerated to move the chains.

  10. Big stoppublished at 03:52 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Los Angeles Rams 23-24 Detroit Lions

Detroit get away with one there, as Puka Nacua can't take the high catch this time but the defender has a grab of the jersey and a hold - but no flags come in from the officials.

You'll see those called nine times out of 10 so that's a huge break for the Lions as the Rams have to punt it away with just four minutes left.

Matthew Stafford is throwing darts out there!

  12. Great play!published at 03:45 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Los Angeles Rams 23-24 Detroit Lions

Puka Nacua is not human! His ninth catch of the game is on a crossing route right on the first down marker, but he breaks a tackle then steps on the gas down the sideline for 36 yards and another rookie record as he moves on to 181 yards receiving the game.

  13. Lions go three-and-outpublished at 03:43 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Los Angeles Rams 23-24 Detroit Lions

"Oooo" go the Ford Field crowd as Austin Trammell bobbles Jack Fox's booming 60-yard punt, but he manages to just about snaffle the ball into his chest and avoid probably costing the Rams the game there.

To be fair it was a monster kick, sent into the stratosphere by Fox to pin the Rams back at about their own five yard line. Yet again showing the value of good kickers and special teams play in these big games.

  14. field goal

Field goal - Ramspublished at 03:33 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Los Angeles Rams 23-24 Detroit Lions

A third trip to the red zone without a touchdown for the Rams - that may come back to haunt them as they have to settle for a field goal to close the gap to a point.

It's an ugly one from Brett Maher but it's good from 29 yards.

    Brett MaherImage source, Getty Images

Fun Fact: Maher missed FOUR straight extra points for the Cowboys in last year's wildcard round, becoming the first player since 1932 to miss that many in a single game.

Well, not a fun fact for Maher, but he's back in the play-offs and making kicks, so good on him.

  15. Great play!published at 03:29 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Los Angeles Rams 20-24 Detroit Lions

What a catch! And guess who? Yep Puka Nacua goes up and brings in an absolute rocket from Matthew Stafford for 22 yards to get LA into the red zone.

It's a great leap from Nacua but even better hands as that ball was travelling. We already know he's a warrior and it takes a brave man to jump and take that catch in the middle of the field as you know you're going to take a hit when you land - as he did - but he hung on and the drive moves forward.

  16. Puka lowers the shoulderpublished at 03:24 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Los Angeles Rams 20-24 Detroit Lions

    Puka NacuaImage source, Getty Images

Puka Nacua has already been evaluated for a head injury, but the rookie is not fazed one but as he lowers his shoulder and barges his way to a first down.

No real skill involved in that one, just the sheer desire from Nacua managed to move the chains for the Rams. He's some talent this rookie.

Nice burst right up the middle by Kyren Williams for 15 yards - LA elect to run it between the tackles and the line does a nice job of opening up a gap for their running back who has plenty pf pace to exploit it.

  18. End of third quarterpublished at 03:19 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Los Angeles Rams 20-24 Detroit Lions

Right we've got a genuine play-off fourth quarter coming up with just a four-point gap. The three games so far have basically been over by now but this is very much in the balance.

We'll start the fourth with a Detroit punt.

  19. Postpublished at 03:15 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Los Angeles Rams 20-24 Detroit Lions

I think Matthew Stafford will be alright. He's out of the medical tent now and is practicing some throws.

Back to the action and Jared Goff can't escape the blitz and the Lions go three and out.

  20. Postpublished at 03:14 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Los Angeles Rams 20-24 Detroit Lions

LA Rams back-up QB Carson Wentz is getting some instructions on the sidelines as a just-in-case.

I think Matthew Stafford also took a big hit as he landed on the floor, knocking the back of his head against the ground.
