They love Jared Goff in Detroit. He fits the culture. This is perfect for him.

He has an opportunity to make things right if he can push forward in the play-offs.

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay on NBC: "[Matthew Stafford] was outstanding, three scoring drives on three possessions.

"You have to go get a stop and that's great for our defence. That was a great way to finish the half.

"They're doing a great job. It's key and critical for us to get them off the grass."

An entertaining first half ends with Matthew Stafford just steering his side away from their own end zone and making sure no mistakes or turnovers hit them.

The first six drives all resulted in points - five touchdowns and a field goal - but we've just found a bit of defence as the half wore in.

So, it's all hanging in the balance as we take a short breather for half time.

The punt from Detroit is the first drive of the day that doesn't result in Points. It's a good kick though as it pins the Rams back and just shows how important it can be at times

So far this has been the evenly-matched contest many predicted/hoped it would be.

There was some concern on the Rams sideline, though, with quarterback Matt Stafford receiving some attention to his throwing hand. TV cameras show there is some blood coming from the point of his index finger and middle finger.

Stafford kept flexing his hand before coming back on to the field, but whatever pain it's causing him, the injury seems manageable given the passes he made on that scoring drive.

Three minutes left to play and just four points in it as Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford exchange blows and big plays in what's turning out to be a brilliant shootout.
