    Women's 400m hurdles

Meghan Beesley is in the second semi for Britain. She scrambled through last night and will need some performance to reach the final.

Only the top two through by right of course.

Qualifying for the women's shot is under way any second now.

Michelle Carter is the reigning Olympic champion. Her father and coach Michael is the only man to win an Olympic medal (silver in the shot at Los Angeles in 1984) and the Super Bowl within 12 months.

A very specific, and impressive, stat.

This could have been very nasty for Arnaud Art, who is out of the pole vault final.

Another very messy race from Shamier Little, who seems to forget how to hurdle in the final 100m once again.

The top two who qualify are Zuzana Hejnova - so smooth - and Kori Carter.

    Makwala turned away

Falcon Sedimo, representative of the Botswana athletics federation: "Isaac has been taken back to the hotel. We don't have any official communication from the IAAF.

"I haven't gone through the rules but we have a right to appeal.

"There has been no formal communication other than the medical communication.

"I met with Isaac this morning and this afternoon and he was ready for his race. He only has one symptom of the norovirus.

"Whether they are legally binding or not, we have not had any formal communication from the IAAF.

"He has been waiting for years to perform here.

"He has not been asked to be quarantined from other athletes in the hotel but he is not able to enter the stadium tonight."

Hurdles are being placed on the track for our next event which is about to start.

Only America’s Dalilah Muhammad has run quicker than compatriot Shamier Little this year, but she had a nightmare in the heats!

She was leading before clattering two hurdles, almost coming to a complete stop at one point in a very messy race. She's through though.

Fellow American Kori Carter is third fastest in the world this year and was also third fastest in qualifying. The Czech Republic’s reigning double world champion Zuzana Hejnova won her heat to qualify as fourth fastest overall.

Bill Ratcliffe: Take banned drugs twice & you're welcome to come and compete (Gatlin). Vomit and security will block you at the door!

Andy Fenn: This Champs is in serious danger of being remembered for pure controversy rather than performances, sport going backwards.

Darryl Shaw: There's always someone who comes to work, the gym, the pub when they are terribly ill and then we all suffer.

    Men's pole vault final

Wow, a real blooper reel clip for Arnaud Art in the pole vault. As he plants the pole it shoots him over the top and he makes a heavy landing on his back.

That will have hurt, and the Belgian limps away. Thankfully he's OK.

Raphael Holzdeppe then crashes out at the opening height.

    Women's 200m heats

That heat is won well by Rebekka Haase of Germany. But it was the athlete who wasn't there at all, 100m champion Tori Bowie, who is the story.

I can confirm that Bianca Williams is through though! Nice.

More big news - 100m champion Tori Bowie is not in this next heat of the 200m as we were expecting.

Ill? She did say that she would decide if she wanted to double up. But she had run 21.77 this year, which is the fastest so far.

This event is maybe opening up.

    Women's 200m heats

100m silver medallist Marie-Josee Talou unsurprisingly breezes her heat. More odd heats running from Anthonique Strachan, last with maybe 75m to go, she put her foot down to get third and qualify. A mess of a race.
