Dina Asher-Smith always seems to deliver on the big occasions - but that was a real scare in the previous round.

She faces fierce competition as she aims for a fourth individual world medal, but despite concerns she may have picked up an injury she is here and waiting in the tunnel.

Just look at the start list. The six fastest women in the world this year are all here. Ranked sixth in 2023, it’s going to be exceptionally tough for Asher-Smith to make the podium.

But, as she said before these championships, major finals are not run on paper – and nor are they won in the semi-finals.

What has Dina Asher-Smith got in the tank after an untidy semi-final?

Can she get in amongst the big favourites - five-time champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, American Sha'Carri Richardson and Shericka Jackson - the fastest woman in the world this year.

Grant Holloway is showing everyone three fingers.

His rivals, the crowd, the TV cameras. THREE successive men's 110m hurdles titles.

The American beats his chest. Utter domination.

The Jamaica supporters to our left are also enjoying themselves following Hansle Parchment's silver.

    Men's 110m hurdles final

Before that women's 100m we have the small matter of the men's 110m hurdles final.

The contenders have just emerged into the arena.

American Grant Holloway is going for a third world championship title in a row.

As if the women's 100m final couldn't get any better, it does look as though we're going to have nine athletes contesting the medals - assuming all is well with Dina Asher-Smith.

Ewa Swoboda, knocked out of the second of two non-automatic qualifying spots by one thousandth of a second by the Briton, appears to have been allowed to progress, with the officials taking up the option of using all nine lanes available on the track.

    Men's discuss final

We've had some drama in the men's discuss final.

Slovenian Kristjan Ceh, the 2022 world champion, looked to have snatched victory with the penultimate effort of the competition with 70.02m which took him ahead of Olympic champion Daniel Stahl.

But then with the last throw of the dice Swede Stahl produces a championship record of 71.46m before standing expressionless with his arms wide.

    A stunning competition.
