Noah Lyles can try all he likes - but only the home athletes can contend with the reception that mascot Youhuu has received every night so far when it bursts out on to the track at the start of the afternoon sessions.

Youhuu is a native Hungarian racka sheep - a type of sheep exclusive to areas inhabited by Hungarian people after settlers brought them here over 1,100 years, so I'm informed.

Youhuu is kitted out in a running vest and running shoes, always ready for a potential late call-up.

    So to tonight's action...

Netherlands' Femke Bol is one of the rising stars of athletics and came into these championships with eyes on gold.

She would have expected one in the mixed 4x400m relay but on Saturday tripped while leading with the finish line agonisingly close.

How will Bol respond? She goes in the fourth heat of the individual today.

Jamaica’s Andrenette Knight (heat three) is the second quickest this year.

Britain's Jessie Knight goes in heat five.

World Athletics Championships: Emotional Katarina Johnson-Thompson on second World title

Katarina Johnson-Thompson spoke to BBC Sport: I knew it was just under three seconds. My coaches were telling me to keep it to within 20 metres, I think she got away from me a little bit. I tracked her and I'm so happy because a gap opened up and I managed to have a burst of energy.

Being against Anna Hall certainly helped. I knew I couldn't let her get too far in front because it would be impossible to bridge that gap.

Zharnel Hughes spoke to BBC Sport after winning bronze in the 100m final: I have been waiting for this moment. I said to myself after Doha that I wanted to experience what it would be like going on the podium for a solo medal. 200m is what I started off in. Coach Mills said to me I have to get down to 19 seconds and I did it. I'm looking to get on the podium again.

World Athletics Championships 2023: GB's Katarina Johnson-Thompson wins heptathlon title

Sunday ended with Zharnel Hughes' 100m bronze - Great Britain's first men's 100m medal since Darren Campbell in 2003.

Before that Katarina Johnson-Thompson completed a remarkable turnaround in her career by winning heptathlon gold.

She needed to stay within 2.5 seconds of American Anna Hall, who on paper is a stronger 800m runner.

Hall went out hard but Johnson-Thompson kept calm and finished under two seconds behind - running a personal best to take the world title for a second time.

Can the British team bag another medal on day three?
