Anthony Joshua stopped a resilient Carlos Takam in the 10th round to successfully defend his IBF and WBA heavyweight world titles in Cardiff.

The Briton made it 20 victories from as many bouts in front of an estimated 78,000 at the Principality Stadium.

Joshua's nose was cut in the second by the head of Takam, 36, who replaced Kubrat Pulev 12 days before the bout.

Joshua, 28, then cut Takam's eye in the fourth, but it took until round 10 for the Cameroon-born boxer to be stopped.

Where next for Anthony Joshua?

Well he wants to unify the division, which means WBO champion Joseph Parker, who gained an unconvincing points win over Britain's Hughie Fury in September, is very much on the radar.

As is Deontay Wilder, who defends his WBC title against fellow American Bermane Stiverne next Sunday.

However, Joshua does not want to lose his WBA, IBF or IBO titles so we may next see him in the ring against a mandatory challenger to make sure he does not lose any gold.

On breaking his nose in the second round: "I had to keep my cool. I've got a few months to heal it up. I'll go and see some good doctors to crack it back in place.

"If I showed any signs of weakness, the ref could have jumped in. That's what he (Takam) tried to do, but the ref stopped it.

Not many of the huge crowd in Cardiff even knew who Carlos Takam was a fortnight ago, but he's just received a terrific ovation from the Principality Stadium.

They know that was a great effort from the stand-in opponent, headbutt or not. Anthony Joshua is also showing his appreciation.

Anthony Joshua has now won all 20 of his professional fights inside the distance. He still has not gone past 11 rounds in any pro contest.

Carlos Takam is still unhappy with that stoppage. He thought he was still in the fight. Phil Edwards said otherwise.

Some big names from the world of boxing are not happy with that stoppage.

Anthony Joshua retains his WBA, IBF and IBO world heavyweight titles as he attacks, but Takam was not throwing enough back and referee Phil Edwards has seen enough and stops it.

The fans are not happy and some booing is heard. Not for Joshua's performance, not for Takam's performance but at that decision to stop it.
