  3. Inexperience showing with AJ?published at 23:03 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

    Michael Pearlman
    BBC Wales Sport in Cardiff

It is easy to forget on nights where Joshua is given tougher examinations, that this is merely his 20th fight as a professional.

A potentially broken nose in the second round would trouble any boxer, especially when it comes via a headbutt.

However, Joshua is in control, has scored a knockdown and the crowd are still firmly behind him. This might be a night he learns a lot against a very, very durable Carlos Takam.

Round 8: Anthony Joshua v Carlos Takam

Anthony Joshua must not get careless. He already has probably done enough to win this on points, if it goes that far.

Left and rights into Takam's body follow and Takam, with a battered left eye, with a battered right eye, waves his opponent on. He wants more. Insane bravery and guts from the challenger. Warrior status: granted.

Round 7: Anthony Joshua v Carlos Takam

Takam paws away at the cuts over his eyes, desperately trying to stop the blood from pouring out. It doesn't do much good. Joshua may well be surprised by the sheer toughness of the late substitute. Takam is doing his reputation in the boxing world a whole world of good.

Expect him to be involved in more big fights in the future.

How much can Carlos Takam actually see in his right eye?

There is heavy swelling and the blood is dripping close to, or into his eye itself. Joshua peppers a couple of straight jabs into the Cameroon-French fighter's face and also lands another uppercut as Takam tries to attack.

Round 6: Anthony Joshua v Carlos Takam

Anthony Joshua looks in control now and this looks to be a case of when, not if.

All credit to Carlos Takam, he has lasted a lot longer than most of Joshua's opponents and remember, he only had two weeks' notice.
