"It won’t be a walk in the park. It will be a dark and rainy night for Katie."

That's not a weather prediction for Cardiff in late October, it was Anahi Sanchez's warning to Katie Taylor in the build-up to their WBA lightweight title bout.

It came before the Argentine failed to make the weight, twice, and means only Ireland's Taylor can now secure the title.

Or like these guys, have made the trip from Watford - Anthony Joshua's home.

There's a top night out to be had for everyone here.

Cardiff has buzzed with excitement all week. Talk of a sell out may be a touch optimistic but we should easily pass the 63,000 or so needed to set a world record attendance for an indoor bout.

Local news here have love it, talking about Cardiff's being back on the global sporting stage. With such anticipation in the air, such a claim seems fair.

Karl Yafai hoisted and moments later Anthony Joshua appears on the big screen. The biggest roar of the night so far follows.

    "Oh Anthony Jossshhhuuaa...".

And Yafai gets it. The American market awaits for him. That's the plan at least - to fight on HBO next year. He believes tonight was the gateway to "big money".

Right then, there's no doubting the main event at the Principality Stadium...

Anthony Joshua, the WBA and IBF world heavyweight champion, fights Carlos Takam having tipped the scales heavier than he ever has before.

Joshua will earn a reported £10m minimum for facing Takam as he tries to improve on his 19 knockouts from 19 bouts.

The Watford fighter was due to face Kubrat Pulev, but the Bulgarian's withdrawal through injury has paved the way for 36-year-old Takam to step in at short notice.

  7. Yafai defends titlepublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

Kal Yafai isn't overly impressed with his performance, but he successfully defends his WBA super-flyweight title for a second time.

"I want to look over that fight again. I wasn't too impressed with that performance but I ground at a win against an awkward opponent," said Yafai.

  8. Yafai retains WBA super-flyweight titlepublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

Kal Yafai is up on the shoulders of the men in his corners. He's confident.

    And rightly so.

    He takes it 118-110 116-112 116-112, it's a unanimous decision for Yafai.

  9. Round 12published at 20:00 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

    Yafai v Ishida

Into the final round, it's going to take something pretty special from Sho Ishida to stop Kal Yafai defending his WBA super-flyweight title here.

And it's the Brit who starts the stronger, forcing Ishida back briefly against the ropes with a shower of powerful jabs.

Ishida looks a little leggy now, but he's gunning for one last knockout blow - Yafai dusts those off and looks to close this one out.

He's been relatively comfortable in Cardiff.

  10. Round 11published at 19:56 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

    Yafai v Ishida

Kal Yafai flicks a flurry of jabs at Sho Ishida before his opponent looks to respond with a rangy left.

Yafai dodges that white glove and goes back on the hunt. He tucks up, rolls away from another Ishida counter and looks for a left-right.

Ishida looks to let off a combination of his own, but the Japanese can't sustain any sort of attack.

  11. Round 10published at 19:52 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

    Yafai v Ishida

Three rounds for Sho Ishida to make some inroads.

It doesn't look likely as Kal Yafai is the man with the energy and precision in the 10th.

He's a ball of black and gold bouncing across the blue canvas, firing combos in the Japanese fighter's direction.

So far, so good for the Brit.

The bright blue sky of Saturday morning slipped away from us and a dank backdrop to this corker of a stadium awaits.

Inside though it's illuminated by strobe lights. The ring glows at the heart of things. If this is anything like April's Wembley dust-up between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko then noise will roll down the tiers and engulf us ringside.

Make no mistake about it, entering this arena and seeing the set-up is a feast for your eyes. When boxing gets it right, it gets it right.

    Yafai v Ishida

Sho Ishida needs to take this to Kal Yafai if he's to take the Brit's WBA super-flyweight belt back to Japan.

He's angling for a route between Yafai's defence, but there's not one appearing.

Yafai is the man with the hustle and bustle, brimming with aggression and snapping away at his taller opponent.

  16. Round eightpublished at 19:44 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

    Yafai v Ishida

Into the business end of this fight we go. And Kal Yafai is beginning to impose himself on Sho Ishida.

The referee says that's low from the Japanese, though. Yafai's not overly impressed, but he looks on top now and fires in a ferocious left to the ribs of his opponent.

Here we go. One, two, three with from the left of Yafai as he smothers Ishida in blows. Ishida's starting to feel the pace.

  17. Round sevenpublished at 19:39 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

    Yafai v Ishida

Kal Yafai's brother reckons he lost the fifth, but he's confident the overall decision is so far with his sibling.

Yafai takes centre ring in round seven, it's still cagey and there's not much landing...

Now the Brit is finding the body of Sho Ishida, who attempts to respond and catches Yafai on the side of the head.

It's the Japanese fighter who's looking to skip away though, as Yafai finishes with a solid, aggressive combination to the body.

  19. Round sixpublished at 19:35 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

    Yafai v Ishida

Kal Yafai, the diminutive WBA super-flyweight title holder, comes out looking to take the sixth to Sho Ishida.

He's trying to get close to his taller opponent, flicking jabs in Ishida's direction at breakneck speed but Yafai needs to be wary of the challenger's response.

Nice combination from the Brit, but he's caught with a right hand to the body and he looked to wince slightly.

Who will finish stronger in this one? Ishida looks to find his range but that falls short.

  20. Round fivepublished at 19:31 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

    Yafai v Ishida

What can Kal Yafai do in round five then? The Welsh crowd is growing a little more vocal, but that's not fazed Sho Ishida.

He's looking more comfortable the longer the fight goes on, but Yafai looks desperate to quell any sort of response.

He's aggressive, fiery and springs forward into his opponent, before swinging a winding right-hander at the Japanese boxer.
