  1. Final round - has Truax done enough?published at 22:59 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2017

    James DeGale v Caleb Truax

Caleb Truax forward and thrusting, but James DeGale gets his left hand away.

Truax looking a little wild and wayward up the straight, swinging and missing.

DeGale is smarter but is there the volume of work?

Truax drops to his knees on the bell. He thinks he has done enough.

    In London? Has he?

It might be the case of whoever wins the final round will win the IBF title. It's desperately close. How much fight is left in the legs of DeGale?

James won that round and I now have it even going into the last round. It's been such a surreal fight to watch.

  5. Round 11published at 22:55 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2017

    James DeGale v Caleb Truax

    This is a tightrope walk.

Both men knowing the fight could hinge on their decisions in these final rounds.

James DeGale with a snapping hook from distance, but it bounces off Caleb Truax's bald head.

DeGale has to stand and trade. And he does. A good shot gets through to Caleb Truax. The crowd cheer.

But Truax is back and busy.

A tight round, but as Truax heads back to his corner with a bloodied nose, probably DeGale's.

Suddenly, DeGale is showing the brilliance of old but Truax is standing tall like a warrior. This will be a very close round. Was that enough for DeGale?

I've got it five rounds each apiece with two rounds to go.

We know he's tough, we know he's got a good chin and we definitely know he can box with good movement. He needs to show us that. But I've got Truax up by one round.

DeGale's consistency in the first and last minute of that round won the round. Truax faded and James hurt him to the body. On my scorecard that round is quite pivotal.

  11. Round 10 - DeGale ships another round?published at 22:51 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2017

    James DeGale v Caleb Truax

"Get out there and do what you came here to do," is the instruction from Caleb Truax's corner.

James DeGale has been out the ring for 11 months. He has undergone major surgery. How is he set for the rounds where it really tests the body and stamina?

Truax lands a heavy uppercut with DeGale backed up into the corner. The Londoner hangs on in there.

DeGale needs a big finish to the round. He gets in a body shot, but Truax comes back with a hook.

That was the American's round for me. Might DeGale even need a stoppage?

I gave James the last round, Truax looks very tired now. It's whether James has got something left to take advantage of Truax's tiredness

  13. Round nine - DeGale battles back as Truax tirespublished at 22:47 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2017

    James DeGale v Caleb Truax

James DeGale gets away a decent jab-hook combination. But where is the malice behind those blows? His is the prettier work, but I think that Truax's is the more effective.

The challenger is slowing slightly in this round. Another neat bit of work from DeGale. And another as he catches Truax on the way in.

That one was DeGale's. Tight on the scorecard. This is anyone's.

    Three to go.

There's urgency needed in James DeGale's work because I think the majority in this arena have got Truax ahead. I have him 5-3 up.

  17. Round eight - Truax still in frontpublished at 22:43 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2017

    James DeGale v Caleb Truax

Promoter Frank Warren is looking on intently with his prize fighter in peril.

Caleb Truax keeps piling forward, denying James DeGale any oxygen. DeGale is looking for counters, but he has not backed his man up or dented his enthusiasm.

The Londoner is in a real scrap here. Another even round. Four to go. This is bubbling up tremendously. Truax still in front for me.

I feel generous but I'm going to give that round to James. He not only needs to find something to turn this fight around but to show he still has a career as a world champion.

  19. Round seven - signs of hope for DeGale?published at 22:39 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2017

    James DeGale v Caleb Truax

It is tight on the cards. If anything Caleb Truax, who has been on the front foot more, is possibly ahead.

The American lands a stinging jab and follows in all pitbull neck and scurrying feet.

But DeGale lands a smart shot to the body as he slips out sideways of one exchange. Is that enough to turn the tide?

I think that was Truax's round as well. DeGale could need all the hometown backing he can get...

James DeGale is trying to summon that prominence of old, the kind of man that won him Olympic gold in 2008. But it looks like it's going to be a long way home for DeGale from here.
