WICKETpublished at 18:01 BST 22 June

    Archer c Conners b de Leede 31 (Durham v Sussex 314-8)

Jofra Archer smashes Bas de Leede over the cover boundary for six.

The next ball is very well fielded to prevent a boundary but then the fun ends.

Archer swings de Leede away and he's well caught on the fence by Sam Conners.

A very entertaining 31 from 34 balls and a 57-run partnership with James Coles.

  2. Postpublished at 17:59 BST 22 June

    Worcs 209 v Surrey 34-0

There is nothing doing for the Worcestershire bowlers.

It's all going serenely for the defending champions who look a step above what they're facing.

  3. 50 runs

50 partnership for Sussexpublished at 17:58 BST 22 June

    Durham v Sussex 308-8

James Coles has found a willing partner in Jofra Archer.

The returning England paceman has contributed 25 to their 51-run partnership.

  4. 100 runs

100 for Charlie Allisonpublished at 17:57 BST 22 June

    Essex 280-7 v Hants

Charlie Allison puts that run out behind him and reaches his second first-class hundred with a nudge into the leg side.

It comes from 188 balls and has featured 11 fours and two sixes.

He's held the Essex innings together brilliantly and hasn't looked troubled in doing so.

    A serious talent.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:55 BST 22 June

    James c Bean b Hill 12 (Notts 283-6 v Yorks)

Lyndon James miscues a drive straight to Finlay Bean at extra cover, who takes a simple catch.

    Nottinghamshire are six down.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:55 BST 22 June

Harmer run out 45 (Essex 279-7 v Hants)

    Drama at Chelmsford.

Charlie Allison - on 99 - pulls into the leg side and sets off for a single.

It's well fielded by Eddie Jack and Simon Harmer sacrifices himself. It's a crucial breakthrough for Hampshire and Allison needs to put that behind him quickly.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:54 BST 22 June

    Rew c Bethell b Hannon-Dalby 38 (Warwickshire v Somerset 275-3)

'That took some getting out to' says the Wisden's Championship correspondent sat next to me.

A slow, short wide one, almost on the red ball wide line even, and James Rew has somehow outside edged that with a waft high to his former England U19 teammate Jacob Bethell.

    81 balls, with four fours.

    15.1 overs remain this evening.

  8. 300 runs

300 up for Sussexpublished at 17:53 BST 22 June

    Durham v Sussex 302-8

Jofra Archer goes for an almighty heave - if he had made contact it might have ended up down the A1 at Headingley - instead it comes off his pad and goes for four leg byes.

Another batting point for the visitors.

  9. 100 runs

    100 for Middlesex's Cracknellpublished at 17:52 BST 22 June

Middlesex are closing in on a fourth batting point at Northants thanks to Joe Cracknell, who is now unbeaten on 106. The visitors have amassed 386-8, a brilliant recovery from 160-6.

    It's Cracknell's maiden first-class century so a moment he'll always remember.

Gloucestershire, who were all out for 187 earlier, have taken a Derbyshire wicket, opener Caleb Jewell for 32, but the visitors, on 62-1 still look in good shape to build a decent first-innings lead.

  10. Postpublished at 17:50 BST 22 June

    Warwickshire v Somerset 275-2

Ethan Bamber became more expensive in his second spell (as you can forgive, understand and perhaps even expect) but now Alex Davies has felt the need to replace him with Ollie Hannon-Dalby at his un-preferred Pavilion End.

Not the best start, a booming cover drive, then one from Tom Lammonby who is now 47*.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:43 BST 22 June

Kellaway lbw Van Beek 25 (Leicestershire v Glamorgan 283-5)

Ben Kellaway is squared up by Logan van Beek with the new ball and has to go leg before, an easy decision as he did not even look up, knowing his fate and trudging off.

His 25 came off 58 balls, just a minimum of 6.3 overs remaining at Grace Road in what should be one of the earliest finishes today across both divisions.

  12. 100 partnershippublished at 17:43 BST 22 June

    Essex 272-6 v Hants

Simon Harmer and Charlie Allison have now added exactly 100 for the seventh wicket.

It's been a fantastic stand for Essex and there could be another landmark around the corner...

  13. Postpublished at 17:41 BST 22 June

    Durham v Sussex 285-8

    Jofra ArcherImage source, PA Media

Jofra Archer is no slouch with the bat - he has twice reached 81 for his highest first-class score and has six 50s in all.

He is offering some good support to James Coles as he goes to 17 not out from 17 balls.

  14. Bit of luck on Coles' sidepublished at 17:39 BST 22 June

    Durham v Sussex 278-8

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

James Coles has batted nicely today but has also had a bit of luck on his side. His fifth first class century is his first away from Hove as well.

He should have been out on 36 though, but an edge down the leg side off Ben Raine was spilled by the keeper Ollie Robinson. He was on 95 when he had a second life. Again it was Ben Raine who should have had him, but the diving Bas de Leede spilled the chance at backward point.

We had a 10-minute delay earlier because of passing rain but things have brightened up since then and Jofra Archer is out in the middle, for the first time in four years, in a championship match.

  15. ouch!

Postpublished at 17:37 BST 22 June

    Worcs 209 v Surrey 11-0

Ryan Patel has taken a painful blow to the hand.

A drink and a couple of painkillers are required after that delivery from Jacob Duffy.

    Patel is fine to resume.

  16. 100 runs

100 for James Colespublished at 17:35 BST 22 June

    Durham v Sussex 278-8

A fifth first-class century for James Coles and how Sussex have needed him.

He was dropped twice off the bowling of Ben Raine but has made sure to punish Durham for those errors.

It comes from 169 balls with 13 fours.

  17. Postpublished at 17:33 BST 22 June

    Warwickshire v Somerset 246-2

Occassional off-spin after 65 overs for Warwickshire.

Ethan Bamber had just replaced Ed Barnard after his frugal spell of 7-1-23-0 and now it is a double change as Rob Yates replaces the Australian off-spinner who had bowled throughout this session from the City End before now.

  18. Postpublished at 17:31 BST 22 June

    Durham v Sussex 275-8

Jofra Archer pulls for four runs - he goes to nine.

A fair few photographers with their long lenses pointed at the England paceman.

  19. Postpublished at 17:30 BST 22 June

    Warwickshire v Somerset 244-2

    Harry Everett
    BBC Sport from Edgbaston

I was doing a bit of play cricket badgering (as always) earlier and it made me chuckle to see my commentary colleague Pete Trego bowling Michael Burgess in the West of England Premier League yesterday.

A lovely precursor for Warwickshire v Somerset today, but a fact which shocked a few Warwickshire members in the Tom Dollery lounge, they were spitting out their roast chicken when I told them as they believed Burgess had retired from cricket for good.

I had to show them the video footage.

Both Burgess and Trego would have relished chances to whack a Kookaburra ball around on a flat one like this, but on the other hand I reckon they would have hated wicketkeeping and bowling for hours respectively with so few wickets as this round is already showing.

  20. Close of play in Blackpoolpublished at 17:28 BST 22 June

    Lancashire v Kent 213-3

There will be no more play possible on day one in Blackpool.

The rain is too heavy now and with little prospect of a resumption, the umpires have called it a night.

It's been a day of toil, amid the rain delays, for a Lancashire side captained by James Anderson for the first time.

Kent have been on top throughout in the battle of Division Two's bottom two and Ben Compton will resume on 86no when play begins on Monday.
