    Waite c Lawrence b Jacks 68 (Worcs 198-9 v Surrey)

The fun is over for Matthew Waite.

Having seen Fateh Singh hit two boundaries in the previous over he tries to swing Will Jacks away for six but he hasn't quite got enough on it and Dan Lawrence takes a well-judged catch on the mid-wicket rope.

  2. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 22 June

    Worcs 198-8 v Surrey

Fateh Singh fishes at one outside off stump and it flies away to third slip where Dom Sibley can't hang on and the ball goes for four.

Jordan Clark roads back in and Singh pulls him away to the mid-wicket fence for four more.

This ninth wicket is now worth 45 runs.

  3. Tea at Blackpoolpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 22 June

    Lancashire v Kent 213-3

Much like Lancashire's entire season, James Anderson's captaincy debut is not going as he or the Red Rose would have hoped.

Ben Compton (86no) has Kent on the way to building a very handy first-innings total, with George Balderson (2-37) the only bowler to enjoy any measure of success for the hosts.

  4. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 22 June

    Worcs 188-8 v Surrey

Matthew Waite steps down the track to Will Jacks and launches him straight down the ground for six.

The next ball is met with a dead straight bat - other Worcestershire batsmen might like to take note of their number seven.

    Waite moves to 66.

  5. Postpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 22 June

    Warwickshire v Somerset 210-2

Lovely punching shot from James Rew off the back foot for four through the leg side off Corey Rocchiccioli. He had beaten him with a quicker, flatter one just outside off the ball before.

  6. Division Two updatepublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 22 June

Gloucestershire's batting point hopes are receding, having slipped from 68-0 to 186-9 although while James Bracey (46no) remains at the crease, there's always a slight chance.

Jack Morley has bowled tail-ender Ajeet Singh Dale to leave the hosts on the precipice... that's 5-55 for the young Derbyshire bowler.

Middlesex's seventh-wicket stand of 103 is over after Luke Hollman (51) became the fifth batter to fall to Liam Guthrie (5-66) but Joe Cracknell (67no) is still at the crease and has the visitors on the brink of a second batting point on 298-7 at Northants.

Ben Slater has to drag himself from the middle.

With the Nottinghamshire opener just four away from a hundred, Dan Moriarty tosses one up outside the left-hander's off-stump.

He drives at it, but miscues straight to George Hill in the covers.

India international Ishan Kishan is the new batter.

  8. 'It's gloomy'published at 16:44 British Summer Time 22 June

    Durham v Sussex 242-6

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It's very gloomy all around the ground now with the sky almost completely filled in.

The only bright spot is right above us and it's a peculiar looking scene but at least we're playing.

The rain radar suggested an 80-90% chance of rain this afternoon and we've not had any - if you'd planned your day out based on the information you wouldn't have come today.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 22 June

    Carlson b Trevaskis 43 (Leicestershire v Glamorgan 238-4)

First wicket to spin at Grace Road so it goes to Liam Trevaskis who got some dip onto middle and leg and now has figures of 1-38 off 13.

83 balls Carlson faced at number four for Glamorgan, but now Colin Ingram is joined by spin-bowling allrounder Ben Kellaway.

  10. Postpublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 22 June

    Worcs 178-8 v Surrey

Matthew Waite seems to have found some support with Fateh Singh, after taking 13 balls to get off the mark, now moving to 17 from 25 with four fours.

The ninth wicket stand is now 25 and is frustrating Surrey

  11. 'Barnard one of best not to play for England'published at 16:41 British Summer Time 22 June

    Warwickshire v Somerset 201-2

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

I think Ed Barnard is one of the best county pros on the circuit who has not played for England.

Lewis Gregory would have been one but he played a few games for England.

Even in the One-Day game Barnard has been MVP the last couple of years too.

A second wicket for George Balderson - and a glimmer of hope for Lancashire.

Bit of a loose one from Tawanda Muyeye who'd had a succession of dot balls so decides to try to launch one but gets under it, giving Mitch Stanley his second catch of the innings.

  13. 38 over evening session begins at Edgbastonpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 22 June

    Warwickshire v Somerset 196-2

    Harry Everett
    BBC Sport from Edgbaston

At last Ed Barnard is given a bowl, I have been on his band wagon all day, no idea why your fourth seamer is not bowled until 50 overs have been bowled, I will endeavour to ask Alex Davies after play depending on who's put up for interview.

Fateh Singh gets off the mark for Worcestershire from his 13th delivery as he edges between the wicketkeeper and first slip for four streaky but valuable runs.

Worcestershire are holding on grimly but determinedly.

James Anderson is finding out this captaincy lark is no walk in the park.

Lancashire simply cannot break this third-wicket stand of 120 and counting between Ben Compton and Tawanda Muyeye.

  20. 50 runs

50 for Pears' Matthew Waitepublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 22 June

    Worcs 153-7 v Surrey

He's playing a lone hand for Worcestershire and he's playing it very well.

Matthew Waite has been the man standing on the deck while the ship goes down.

He scampers a single and gets to 50 from 80 balls with six fours.
