    Durham v Notts 32-0

We're into the ninth over and we have our first sighter of England fast bowler Brydon Carse as he replaces Ben Raine.

The paceman hasn't played for his county since September, but is right on the money straightaway.

His fifth ball is right up around the ribcage of left-hander Ben Slater but he skillfully gets up on his toes and plays it around the corner for a single.

The final ball takes off, over the head of Haseeb Hameed and Ollie Robinson leaps high to take a super catch to avoid four byes.

    One from the over.

  3. 'It's taken Notts a while to get going'published at 11:33 British Summer Time 16 May

    Durham v Notts 31-0

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

It's taken Notts a little while to get going, but they're now 31 without loss.

There were three boundaries in that last over.

    Notts 31-0 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The South African batsman David Bedingham was named in the squad for this one and looked set for a return, having suffered a fractured toe in April. But he isn't playing, I gather at the request of Cricket South Africa.

They are planning ahead for the World Test Championship against Australia next month. Interestingly South African keeper Kyle Verreynne is playing for Notts though.

Sam Conners was also listed in the Durham squad for the first time but doesn't feature. Matty Potts is with England, along with Notts' Josh Tongue, while Australian bowler Brendan Doggett's short spell has come to an end.

In comes 17-year-old bowler James Minto. He signed a new two-year rookie contract this week and is playing in his third championship game.

It is a nice sunny day in the North East but breezy with it.

  5. Postpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 16 May

    Durham v Notts 31-0

Haseeb Hameed is rattling along this morning.

He flashes at the first ball of Codi Yusuf's fourth over and it races through extra cover for four.

Two balls later the Notts skipper drives back down the ground, beating Yusuf's dive, for four more.

A no-ball for overstepping and then Hameed plays a nice back-foot punch through point for his third boundary of the over to go to 25.

    Fourteen from the over.

  6. Middlesex in troublepublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 16 May

    Middlesex (19-3) v Leicestershire

Middlesex are in all sorts of trouble at Lord's.

Sam Robson fell in the first over to leave them 0-1. Max Holden was then bowled for seven by Ian Holland before Leus du Plooy was caught by Sol Budinger for a duck.

Holland is on fire for Leicestershire. He's taken all three and has figures of 3-4 from four overs.

  7. Division Two updatepublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 16 May

Kent have lost an early wicket with Harry Finch the man already back in the pavilion.

He fell for one run after only three balls with Josh Shaw taking the wicket for Gloucestershire.

That has brought Daniel Bell-Drummond to the crease to join Ben Compton.

Northants have made a good start at Glamorgan, they are 30 without loss after eight overs.

  8. Postpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 16 May

    Warwicks v Hants 15-1

Olly Hannon-Dalby beats the outside edge of Mark Stoneman a couple of times from his third over of the morning.

Having run the first ball past the edge, the Hampshire opener picks up his first boundary of the morning.

To OHD's final delivery, wicketkeeper Alex Davies throws the ball triumphantly up into the air, but the bowler is less keen with his appeal.

The replay shows daylight between bat and ball.

  9. 'They're on the attack'published at 11:28 British Summer Time 16 May

    Somerset 22-1 v Sussex

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Sussex will have their tails up following the wicket.

They're very much staying on the attack with Robinson.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:25 British Summer Time 16 May

    Gregory c Clark b McAndrew 15 (Somerset 21-1 v Sussex)

I was just about to say that Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory is getting going nicely here...

He swats away two boundaries from Nathan McAndrew but McAndrew gets almost instant revenge.

Gregory hesitantly stabs at one just outside his off stump and edges straight into the hands of Tom Clark in the slips.

A promising looking morning is over far earlier than Gregory would've hoped after getting his eye in.

  11. Postpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 16 May

    Lancs 7-0 v Derbys

I wonder what Keaton Jennings is thinking?

Just a few days after resigning the captaincy, the Lancashire opener is out in the middle, left just to concentrate on his batting.

The hosts have made a solid start reaching 7-0 after five overs.

Jennings has a couple off 18 balls and Luke Wells has five to his name after 14 balls.

  12. Postpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 16 May

    Surrey v Yorkshire 19-0

Oof, an absolute belter of a delivery from Matthew Fisher but it brings no rewards.

It cuts across left-hander Adam Lyth and beats the bat. Lyth then uses soft hands to guide down to third man for a couple two balls later.

As we said, plenty of movement and encouragement for the bowlers here, though.

  13. Postpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 16 May

    Somerset 13-0 v Sussex

Ollie Robinson catches Josh Davey high on his back pad and Somerset manage to squeeze through a quick single.

Lewis Gregory then picks up a single off the last ball of the over, nudging it towards square leg.

Typically solid line and length on the whole so far from Robinson and just the three runs off his first three overs of the morning.

  14. Postpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 16 May

    Durham v Notts 17-0

After that first over leaked 11 runs, Durham have tightened things up.

Back-to-back maidens from Mark Stoneman and another from Codi Yusuf have wrestled back a smidge of control for the bowling side.

    Spoke too soon.

But when Yusuf's line does strays a little, Haseeb Hameed cashes in immediately, stroking a lovely looking on-drive to the rope.

  15. 'Movement off the pitch'published at 11:18 British Summer Time 16 May

    Surrey v Yorkshire 10-0

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

There's been movement off the pitch and in the air so far.

The surface is looking its best in the sun.

  16. Postpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 16 May

    Somerset 11-0 v Sussex

Ollie Robinson and Nathan McAndrew have kept things fairly tight in the opening couple of overs before Lewis Gregory flicks wonderfully through mid-wicket for four off McAndrew.

    Perfectly timed.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 16 May

    Middleton c Yates b Hannon-Dalby 4 (Warwicks v Hants 4-1)

Fletcha Middleton trudges back to the pavilion as his miserable season continues.

Olly Hannon-Dalby does what OHD does - gets a little bit of shape and takes the outside edge of the Hants opener.

A comfortable height for Rob Yates at second slip who takes the catch at the second attempt.

    Nick Gubbins is in.

  18. Postpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 16 May

    Surrey v Yorkshire 10-0

A steady start for Yorkshire openers Adam Lyth and Fin Bean on a fairly green looking track at The Oval.

Nathan Smith is getting some nice ball movement through the air for the hosts but his second over isn't seen off without a scare.

Smith beats the bat and it flicks Bean's thigh pad on the way through. Surrey appeal but the umpire rightly says no.

  19. Postpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 16 May

    Warwicks v Hants 4-0

Quiet start at Edgbaston as Mark Stoneman plays out a maiden to the first over of the day.

Fletcha Middleton gets the scoreboard ticking as a cover drive off Olly Hannon-Dalby finds the gap and races to the boundary.

It looks another decent batting pitch.

Last week just 20 wickets fell across the four days so the bowlers will be hoping for more encouragement.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 16 May

    Robson lbw b Holland 0 (Middlesex 0-1 v Leicestershire)

Not an ideal start for Middlesex and our first wicket of the day...

Sam Robson has fallen for a duck in the first over after getting trapped LBW by Ian Holland after just five balls.
