I don't think Kimi Antonelli is going to make it to end of the race with the soft tyre, he's going to have to stop again.

The safety car appears and Oscar Piastri is straight in to the pits from the race lead for a set of medium tyres. George Russell also comes in and goes soft, Charles Leclerc opts for the hards and Lando Norris picks the yellow rubber like his team-mate.

    Max Verstappen hasn't pitted.

Was that slight contact between Yuki Tsunoda and Carlos Sainz? The Red Bull seemed like it tagged the rear of the Williams.

And now we have a safety car!

The Red Bull of Max Verstappen has climbed to 14th place, one place behind the Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli, who is on a set of soft tyres now. Will we see round two between the pair?

Nope, because Antonelli has just passed old man Alonso for 12th place.

McLaren have received a call from Lando Norris. The Briton has got an issue which he can't fix. It doesn't look like it'll hinder his race, so he carries on in fourth place on his medium tyres.

Team-mate Oscar Piastri, meanwhile, is cruising out in front.

The two Williams are in the top 10 as it stands; Alex Albon on the hard tyre, Carlos Sainz on the mediums. Ollie Bearman is also in the points on 14-lap old hard rubber.

    Lap 28/57

It's been a quiet race for Oscar Piastri out in front - which he'll be pleased with. The Australian is 6.7 seconds clear of George Russell and over seven seconds free of Charles Leclerc.

Kimi Antonelli is into the pits again but the Italian is released in to some heavy traffic on his soft tyres. The Mercedes man is now down in 15th place.

Ferrari can't go onto the medium tyre [in the final stint] because they started on the medium and they've changed to the medium, they have to go to either soft or hard in the next stop.

    Lap 27/57

Max Verstappen wants to dump those hard tyres, so he comes into the pits for a changeover. Once again, however, it's a slow stop for Red Bull - looks like a tyre wouldn't come off - and the Dutchman rejoins the track down in last place. He's on the mediums now, so let's see what he can do.

The later stop for the Ferraris is paying off nicely. Lewis Hamilton puts his mediums through their paces once again with easy move on the Haas of Esteban Ocon for sixth. He's clocking up the fastest laps too.

Charles Leclerc's sights are now set on the Mercedes of George Russell for second.

    Lap 25/57

Actually, it's a double Ferrari overtake. Charles Leclerc sweeps past Lando Norris for third place, just as Lewis Hamilton hunts down his young Mercedes replacement Kimi Antonelli for seventh.

  16. Leclerc battling Norrispublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 13 April

    Lap 24/57

Charles Leclerc is on the rear wing of Lando Norris and hustling the McLaren for that final podium place. Leclerc goes in a little too hot and can't make the move stick at Turn One, but he's still close enough to get another chance to battle the Briton on the next lap.

This is quickly becoming a challenging race for Max Verstappen. The Dutchman is on the hard tyres but his car is in need of some TLC in the Bahrain heat. Now his issue is with the brakes and he's been passed by Lewis Hamilton for ninth place.

Andrew Priestley: There’s a new kid on the block... Kimi Antonelli lines-up and swoops past Max Verstappen.

Jeremiah Kariuki: Great move by Kimi on that overtake over Verstappen. Max is having a car he is possibly not used to. But give it to Kimi for the great drive.

Fresh medium rubber for Lewis Hamilton means he can make an routine pass on the Alpine of Jack Doohan for ninth place. Australian Doohan is still in the points, which if he stays there, could be a double prize day for the French team.
