  1. Lunch at Utilita Bowlpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 114-0

No doubt who the morning belongs to in Southampton - the Warwickshire batters.

If any eyebrows were raised about Alex Davies' decision to bat on an overcast April morning, they have been well and truly dispelled.

Davies goes to lunch on 45, with opener Rob Yates purring on 68.

Hampshire really need to up their game when they return in 40 minutes time.

  2. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex v Lancashire 31-2

A very good 10-over session for the hosts at Chelmsford.

To remove both Lancashire openers, and captain Keaton Jennings in particular, represents a terrific bounty from 45 minutes of cricket.

  3. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset v Notts 72-3

Lewis Gregory's two wickets have definitely swung the morning session towards Somerset.

Ben Slater and Will Young had looked well set and put on 49 after Haseeb Hameed's third-ball duck off Craig Overton.

But Gregory trapped Slater to break the stand, and then dismissed Young in the same manner to leave Notts in a spot of bother.

Joe Clarke (11) and Matt Montgomery (9) have rebuilding to do.

  4. 'Wells will feel aggrieved'published at 13:02 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex v Lancashire 31-2

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Luke Wells will feel a little big aggrieved there. Shane Snater is bowling really wide of the crease to the left-lander and that ball doesn't really straighten.

  5. Early lunch at Derbypublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 19 April

    Derbys v Leics 59-0

Umpires Peter Hartley and Surendiran Shanmugam have decided to take an early lunch at Derby, where the players have been off for about 40 minutes because of rain.

Leicestershire will be satisfied with their part-morning's work, getting through 18 overs with their openers still together.

Rishi Patel is 35 not out and Australian Marcus Harris has 22. Four bowlers used so far by Derbyshire.

  6. 'It's a pleasant day here in Kidderminster'published at 12:54 British Summer Time 19 April

    Worcs v Durham 55-2

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

We've got broken cloud now, very small bits of cloud.

Nice blue sky and the sun is shining.

It's a pleasant day here in Kidderminster.

Great start from Snater and Essex.

100 partnership for Bears openerspublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 100-0

A single from Alex Davies nudges the Warwickshire score into three figures.

After 343 against Durham seven days ago, Davies and Rob Yates are beginning the season very nicely.

  9. Postpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset v Notts 63-3

Lewis Gregory's super spell of 2-7 from six overs is done as Migael Pretorius comes back into the attack with a change of end.

Joe Clarke unfurls a lovely shot through the covers for four off for his first boundary of the day.

He then claims a rather more streaky four from the fifth ball of the over off the thickest of edges.

Craig Overton comes back on, 10 minutes before lunch, to try and nibble out a fourth Notts batter.

    Sussex v Glos 79-2

Tom Clark isn't quick enough to bowl that line.

He is wide of off stump in his opening over at Hove and Miles Hammond has all the time he needs to thump it away through the covers for four.

Lunch about 10 minutes away now for Gloucestershire - can they avoid further loss before then?

  11. 'A magnificent catch from Critchley'published at 12:48 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex v Lancashire 25-1

    Roland Butcher
Former Middlesex and England batter on BBC Essex

What a magnificent catch that it, Matt Critchley takes a blinder in these conditions. That ball must have moved off the seam.

Critchley in the gully there, diving to his right and hangs on to an absolute beauty.

  12. 'Not much has beaten the bat'published at 12:48 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 89-0

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

There wasn’t much joy for the main Hampshire seamers Kyle Abbott and Mohammad Abbas last week.

This match has started pretty much the same. You’d be forgiven for thinking both bowlers were still using the Kookaburra ball. Not much has beaten the bat.

Take nothing away from Alex Davies and Rob Yates though. Both have presented a very straight bat. Yates punished Abbott early on with several front foot drives when the bowler over pitched.

Liam Dawson was introduced after just 16 overs. I think he will be sending down a few overs today.

  13. wicket

WICKET Jennings c Critchley b Snater 5published at 12:46 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex v Lancashire 25-1

Keaton Jennings does not make it through to lunch!

Essex captain Tom Westley hooks Jamie Porter after just three overs and new bowler Shane Snater strikes with his fourth ball.

Coming round the wicket, Snater squares Jennings up and the ball flies quickly to gully where Matt Critchley takes an excellent catch low down.

Runs, wickets and catches - Critchley has started the season in great form.

50 up for Durhampublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 19 April

    Worcs v Durham 52-2

David Bedingham takes back-to-back boundaries off Matthew Waite's first over since replacing Joe Leach to bring up the Durham fifty in the 15th over.

It's been heavy going for the visitors, but the third-wicket pair have played themselves in.

Bedingham has hurried to 21 off 33, while Colin Ackermann has a more watchful 19 from 47 balls.

  15. Umpires give green light for play at Canterburypublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 19 April

Kent v Surrey - start delayed

Better news from Canterbury where the umpires have taken a look and decided that play can begin at 13:25.

A minute's silence in memory of the late Derek Underwood and Raman Subba Row has been perfectly observed by the two teams.

First appeal as Sam Cook hits Luke Wells on the pads.

But the batter had got well forward to try to negate any movement. The umpire can confidently say 'Not out' to that one.

Gloucestershire are finding runs harder to come by at Hove following the dismissal of Ollie Price for eight.

Just nine have been added from the last five, with Ben Charlesworth 19 not out and new batter Miles Hammond on four.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice is now into the attack as second change and his opening over was a maiden.

Only the fifth over of play at Chelmsford and Luke Wells unfurls a glorious lofted shot over midwicket for a maximum.

    That is a super shot!

Jamie Porter has wicketkeeper Michael Pepper up to the stumps and that is a terrific riposte from Wells.

It has gone so far over the boundary that the ball has gone into someone's garden!

  20. Postpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 19 April

We take our first look of the morning at West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder as he replaces wicket-taker Nathan Smith.

He mixed bag as five runs off the bat, four dots and a no-ball.

Joe Leach is still steaming in at the other end for his seventh over, but it may be his last in this spell.

Colin Ackermann and David Bedingham have battened down the hatches and added 24 for the third wicket.
