  1. 50 runs

50 for Rob Yatespublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 87-0

The first 50 of this round of matches goes to Warwickshire's Rob Yates.

He got off to a flyer and has been reined in a little bit recently but when James Fuller digs one into the pitch, Yates swivels on to it and pulls it for his 10th four.

His 50 has taken 80 balls. Remember Yates hit 191 seven days ago against Durham.

  2. 'Holder's bowling for Pears has been tidy'published at 12:32 British Summer Time 19 April

    Worcs v Durham 40-2

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Jason Holder hasn't set the world alight yet with his bowling for Worcestershire but he has been tidy.

No great pace, a very big man but accuracy is the order of the day when he's bowling usually.

He's vastly experienced and yet still not a veteran, still youngish.

He's already impressed everyone with his approach.

  3. South Africans facing up to April weatherpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex v Lancashire 11-0

Anyone worrying about Essex's South African duo Dean Elgar and Simon Harmer after they had to field in chilly conditions on Monday.

They are both out in the slips, without the need for snoods today.

Hands in pockets mind you, because it's not exactly warm!

  4. wicket

WICKET Young lbw b Gregory 27published at 12:29 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset v Notts 52-3

It's turning into a wonderful morning for Somerset after losing the toss.

Will Young had looked in decent nick, but he plays back to a Lewis Gregory delivery which he should perhaps have gone forward to and is trapped in front.

It's a simple decision for the umpire - the ball looked to be heading for middle and off, or clattering into off stump at worst.

    That's 2-6 for Gregory.

  5. 50 runs

up for Nottspublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset v Notts 52-2

Joe Clarke has been Notts go-to with the bat this season, but takes a few deep breaths after his fourth ball as Lewis Gregory fires one into his pads.

It's a strong appeal, but it's slightly outside the line and a tad high. Not far away from a huge breakthrough.

In the next over Will Young swats away a Josh Davey delivery through the covers and brings up the Notts 50 in the 20th over. It has not come without cost.

  6. Postpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex v Lancashire 8-0

Sam Cook has four slips as he runs in to bowl.

He is over the wicket to Luke Wells and a legside ball is tucked away for a couple.

He switches to round the wicket to Keaton Jennings and there is a hint of away swing from Cook, albeit from a very wide delivery outside off.

  7. Lancashire begin inningspublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex v Lancashire 5-0

Jamie Porter has a new red Dukes ball in his hand.

Luke Wells takes a single off the third ball and Lancashire partner Keaton Jennings gets off the mark with a walk down the wicket and clip to midwicket for four to get his score up and running.

That is becoming a signature Jennings shot.

Sam Cook to bowl at the other end.

  8. wicket

WICKET Slater c Rew b Gregory 25published at 12:17 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset v Notts 49-2

Ben Slater has survived a few scares this morning, but his luck runs out.

Lewis Gregory opts to take another over and he sends down a beauty which straightens and forces Slater to play.

It duly takes the edge and James Rew isn't missing that behind the stumps.

Joe Clarke, who has two tons to his name already this season, is at the crease.

  9. Dawson into the attackpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 67-0

Not much more than an hour's cricket and Hampshire cricket James Vince is forced to throw the ball to Liam Dawson.

The left-arm spinner got through 49 overs in the Lancashire innings last weekend and could be in for a long bowl today.

Five singles from the Warwickshire batters from his first over.

  10. wicket

WICKET O Price c Clark b Lamb 8published at 12:14 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex v Glos 61-2

The commentator's curse (see 12:14 entry).

Ollie Price tries to drive a ball from Danny Lamb but the ball flies to second slip where Tom Clark takes a good low catch in front of his right foot.

Both wickets so far for Lamb, who has 2-12 from five overs.

  11. 'A good start for Gloucestershire'published at 12:14 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex v Glos 61-1

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A good start for the visitors having lost the toss and been asked to bat.

Cameron Bancroft and the stylish Ben Charlsworth made a positive start both benefiting from a short boundary on one side of the ground.

The introduction of Danny Lamb stemmed the flow of runs, and he then trapped Bancroft plum in front with the Australian playing across the line,

However Sussex will be concerned that Tom Haines who hurt his hand fielding at short leg in the first over of the day is still off the field.

    Derbys v Leics 59-0

Rishi Patel batting for LeicestershireImage source, Getty Images

Take that (no, not Gary Barlow and co)!

Pat Brown is short and wide and Rishi Patel carves it away for four with considerable oomph behind it.

The Leicestershire opener is 35 not out, with partner Marcus Harris on 22.

Derbyshire have turned now to the spin of Alex Thomson, who took 12 wickets in their opening two games - his first over costs two runs, but rain arrives to halt proceedings.

  13. rain stops play

Rain delay continues at Lord'spublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx v Yorks 41-1

"Could be a while before we're back on" says BBC West Yorkshire Sport's Jonathan Doidge in a post on X.

We had seven overs of play earlier on but it's currently looking rather grotty at the home of cricket and the umpires say an early lunch will be taken at 12:30.

Finlay Bean and Shan Masood are the not out batters. Adam Lyth was lbw to TRJ for 15, with the score on 29.

  14. Play resumes at Kidderminsterpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 19 April

    Worcs v Durham 22-2

A mercifully short delay at Kidderminster - I make that about eight minutes - as the sun is back out, along with the players.

Will that freshen up the pitch even more for Joe Leach and Nathan Smith?

  15. Postpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset v Notts 42-1

Migael Pretorius overpitches and Ben Slater smears it through extra cover for four. The fielders never even moved.

It's looking more comfortable now for the batters as the sun continues to bathe the punters of Taunton. That will not improve Craig Overton's mood.

The second-wicket partnership is up to 42.

  16. rain stops play

Session lost at Canterburypublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 19 April

Kent v Surrey - start delayed

There will be no play before lunch at the Spitfire Ground.

The umpires have ordered a 1245 lunch for the players, while they pop out to assess conditions.

Let's hope the rain will do the decent thing and shove off.

  17. Postpublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 60-0

Rob Yates has struck eight fours already, but the ninth is the pick of the bunch.

Straight drive, nice back-lift, high right elbow and crunched to the boundary. His second of the over and he is really motoring.

  18. 'Lamb is electric this morning'published at 12:05 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex v Glos 56-1

    Isabelle Duncan
    BBC Sussex

Danny Lamb is electric this morning with this Dukes ball.

    He's got his tail up.

He's already got the scalp of Bancroft.

  19. Leaders Essex have Red Rose in their sightspublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 19 April

Essex v Lancashire - play to start at 12:15 BST

Is it too early to talk about Division One leaders? Essex have that position as the only county to have won a game so far.

New batters Dean Elgar and Jordan Cox already have centuries to their name. All-rounder Matt Critchley hit two hundreds last week and Sam Cook and Jamie Porter are into the wickets.

Cook returns from a niggle that kept him out of the draw with Kent and his firepower will be welcome against Lancashire.

Their game with Surrey was hugely rain-affected, but they did have the better of a draw with Hampshire last time out with captain Keaton Jennings hitting a big hundred.

Him against Cook and Porter could be the key contest in this one.

While we also have two of the premier off-spinners in world cricket on duty in Australia great Nathan Lyon for Lancashire and Essex's South Africa star Simon Harmer.

Essex have won the toss and are going to bowl. They have two changes to their team with Cook returning and a Championship debut for teenager Noah Thain.

    Lancashire are unchanged.

  20. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 19 April

    Worcs v Durham 22-2

The rain has returned to Kidderminster and the players retreat to the pavilion after just half-an-hour of play and 6.4 overs.

The Pears will be the more frustrated after removing both the Durham openers.
