    Somerset v Notts 22-1

    Shot, Ben Slater!

The Notts opener connects with a wide one from Josh Davey and thrashes it through the covers for four.

The surface certainly looks true for the batters if they can see off the new ball.

Craig Overton then has puts hands on hips in teapot as he swings successive deliveries past Will Young's outside edge.

  2. Division Two updatepublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 19 April

Australian Cameron Bancroft has three fours already against Sussex at Hove, the most recent steered through the covers off Jayden Seales. Gloucestershire are 26-0 after six overs and he is 18 not out.

No joy yet for Derbyshire after choosing to ask Leicestershire to bat first. The Foxes are 15-0 in the eighth overs, with Rishi Patel on nine and Marcus Harris six not out.

  3. Postpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 27-0

This really is a bit of a liquorice allsorts start from Kyle Abbott.

Alex Davies clips him through the onside for four and then squares cuts another boundary.

But Abbott nearly has the batter chopping on as Davies picks up a fortunate single.

But that is 25 off three overs from the South Africa bowler. That does little to apply any pressure.

  4. Promoted sides face off in top flightpublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 19 April

Worcestershire v Durham (11:30 BST) - Durham win the toss and will bat

The last time these team's met, Durham were easing along on their way to the Division Two title, with Worcestershire having to work harder for their promotion to the Championship top table.

The Pears finished 66 points behind the northern-most county side, but have made the better start to life in Division One, sitting third after having the better of two rain-affected draws.

Durham are ninth after two draws, although rain denied them any play in their season opener.

This will be Durham's second trip to the West Midlands in less than a week following their draw against Warwickshire.

Their bowlers had a lean time of it with the Kookaburra, to say the least, as the Bears racked up 698-3 declared, and their attack is depleted for the trip to Kidderminster.

Australia international Scott Boland is missing with a knee injury, while England's Brydon Carse is rested.

Worcestershire named an unchanged squad from that which were denied a victory shot at Trent Bridge by day four rain.

  5. Better news at Kidderminsterpublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 19 April

Worcs v Durham (play starts at 11.30 BST)

The covers are off at Kidderminster after the morning showers with play due to start at 11.30.

Durham have won the toss and will bat first.

  6. Postpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset v Notts 16-1

It's not so convincing, but Will Young drives at Craig Overton outswinger and gets enough on it to send it past gully to the boundary for his first four.

Overton almost gets immediate revenge, sliding one past the New Zealander's outside edge.

Productive over for Notts, though. Eight from it.

  7. wicket

WICKET Lyth lbw Roland-Jones 15published at 11:22 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx v Yorks 29-1

Adam Lyth plays fractionally outside the line of the ball at the start of Toby Roland-Jones' third over and he is gone.

His dismissal brings Yorkshire skipper Shan Masood to the crease - fresh from his century at Bristol last week - and he clips his first delivery to the square leg boundary.

Welcome back old buddy and by that I mean the Dukes balls.

The last two matches at times have been a bit of a turgid watch.

  9. Minute's silence for 'Deadly'published at 11:20 British Summer Time 19 April

Kent v Surrey - start delayed

Derek Underwood sign at CanterburyImage source, Rex Features

Because of the rain at the Spitfire Ground, the minute's silence in memory of Derek Underwood has been put back to midday, unless play is able to start before that time, in which case it will be rescheduled again.

What a bowler he was. Some of us are old enough (just about) to have watched his match-winning 7-50 against Australia at The Oval in 1968 on TV.

The name 'Inverarity' - the final Aussie batter dismissed - was just as hard to type back then as it is now.

  10. Postpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset v Notts 8-1

Craig Overton and Josh Davey look to be relishing the return of their old friend, the Dukes ball.

Not sure Will Young and Ben Slater will be so delighted.

There's movement both ways off the Taunton pitch, swing and seam. A morning to hang in there.

A single off Davey's second over takes Notts to 8-1 from four overs after Haseeb Hameed's bizarre three-ball knock.

  11. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 18-0

    Woah, that is loose.

Alex Davies attempts a big drive off Kyle Abbott and does not connect as the ball goes through to wicketkeeper Ben Brown.

Warwickshire captain Davies called correctly at the toss and decided to bat - memories of his 256 must be fresh in his mind.

But he picks up his first four today with a lovely on-drive. A welcome sight as he tries to get up and running in this innings.

  12. Postpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx v Yorks 22-0

Yorkshire are off to a flier at Lord's with just three overs gone.

In truth, though, a couple of their four boundaries so far were a touch streaky, the ball running away through the slip cordon off the edge.

Adam Lyth - whose off-drive is looking in fine fettle - is 13 not out and Finlay Bean has nine.

  13. Postpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset v Notts 6-1

Ben Slater picks up the first boundary of the match as he defends to Josh Davey's second ball and it squirts off the outside edge past the slips all along the ground to the rope.

Davey's wobble seam then comes a cigarette paper away from taking the edge of the Notts opener as it zips through to wicketkeeper James Rew.

A big shout with the last ball of the over. It jags back in and hits Slater bang in front. He may have got away with one there.

  14. Postpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 13-0

BBC Radio Solent's Kevan James is saying that exactly the same preparation has gone into this wicket as for the match against Lancashire last week.

So we will see the impact of the Dukes ball.

Rob Yates is not worried as he hits successive offside fours off Kyle Abbott - 12 off the over and Yates has 13 off 12 balls.

  15. 'A perfect start for Somerset'published at 11:11 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset v Notts 2-1

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

It was a rather wide and offside shot from Haseeb Hameed, not really in control at any stage.

The ball was well pitched up to him outside the off stump, he went for the big shot, got the bottom edge and it cannoned into his stumps.

A perfect start for Somerset and a nightmare start for Notts.

He had no need to play it but he decided that there were runs to be had and went for the big off drive.

  16. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex v Glos 0-0

A tidy maiden from England's Ollie Robinson starts proceedings at Hove. Jayden Seales will share the new ball and Cameron Bancroft and Ben Charlesworth are the two Gloucestershire openers.

  17. Postpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 5-0

Rob Yates picks up a single off that Mohammad Abbas over and will now face Kyle Abbott.

Hampshire have four slips in place, all stood with hands in pockets, while jackets are the order of the day for the spectators who have made it to the Utilita Bowl.

And Yates is gifted a low full toss from Abbott's first ball to get the first boundary.

  18. Postpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 19 April

    Derbys v Leics 4-0

Cross out the word Lord's and replace with Derby - Sam Conners is too full in his opening over and Rishi Patel drills the ball back past him and away for the game's first boundary.

Ben Green is making is Leicestershire debut after arriving on loan from Somerset.

  19. Postpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx v Yorks 4-0

    Nice.

Ethan Bamber overpitches in his opening over at Lord's and Yorkshire opener Adam Lyth eases it down the ground for four with a minimum of fuss.

  20. wicket

WICKET Hameed b Overton 0published at 11:03 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset v Notts 0-1

Having won the toss, Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed fancies a bat and faces the first ball of the match from Craig Overton.

The visitors won't have the fondest memories of Taunton having suffered a pretty big pasting here by 399 runs last June.

Hameed perhaps betrays a few nerves by wafting at - and missing - a wide first ball.

Then he slashes at the third ball and drags it on to his off stump. Oh dear.

Will Young comes to the crease.
