  1. Bad light stops playpublished at 18:51 British Summer Time 19 April

    Worcs 76-4 v Durham 244

The light isn't great at Kidderminster as a big bank of cloud rolls across the ground.

The umpires ask Durham to bring on something slower in the bowling department as Matt Potts marks his run-up.

And that's it, we're going off for bad light.

There's seven overs still outstanding but that may well be that.

  2. Khushi on the attackpublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 43-0 v Lancashire 146

Feroze Khushi remains in attack mode as he drives Tom Bailey for two through the offside.

And he then crunches another one through legside for four.

And two off the next ball as Khushi is trying to play a shot every ball.

Yes, he absolutely does. Bailey is a fraction short and Khushi hooks it out to midwicket for four more.

Khushi has 35 off 24 balls and Essex are going at six an over.

  3. Close of play at Canterburypublished at 18:48 British Summer Time 19 April

    Kent 111-3 v Surrey

Just 39 overs were possible on day one at the Spitfire Ground but some highly competitive cricket nonetheless.

After dismissing Zak Crawley and Ben Compton cheaply following a lengthy rain delay, Surrey were held up by a 100-run stand between Daniel Bell-Drummond and Jack Leaning.

They will be happy to have seen off Bell-Drummond for 70 before the close and Kent will need to regroup on the second morning, with Leaning on 30 not out.

  4. Second point for Gloucestershirepublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex v Glos 301-6

James Bracey drives Jayden Seales through mid-wicket for a couple and Gloucestershire progress past 300 to claim a second batting point at Hove.

Bracey is 67 not out and Zafar Gohar has 13, with seven overs left.

  5. wicket

WICKET Hose b Coughlin 5published at 18:44 British Summer Time 19 April

    Worcs 75-4 v Durham 244

Not perhaps the wisest of shots at this time of the day.

Paul Coughlin is short and wide outside off stump and the eyes of Adam Hose light up.

Unfortunately he chops the ball back onto his stumps off the bottom corner of his bat with a pretty ugly swipe.

Jason Holder joins Jake Libby to see out the final eight-and-a-bit overs.

  6. Postpublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 31-0 v Lancashire 146

Feroze Khushi is flying at the top of the Essex order.

There have been one or two moments of luck, but he powers one through the covers off Will Williams for four.

He has 23 off only 18 balls.

  7. Postpublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 19 April

    Kent 111-3 v Surrey

Kemar Roach leaves George Garrett on the seat of his pants with a rapid bouncer.

The Kent nightwatchman is relieved to get off strike with a single, leaving Jack Leaning to face the final ball of the over.

  8. Close of play at the Utilita Bowlpublished at 18:39 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 340-4

Liam Dawson bowls a maiden over to night-watchman Danny Briggs to conclude the opening day at the Utilita Bowl.

Alex Davies' 156 and half-centuries from Will Rhodes and Rob Yates make it Warwickshire's day.

But those two late wickets have brought Hampshire more into the game than they were half an hour or so ago.

  9. Close of play at Tauntonpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset 116-1 v Notts 193

It doesn't take the sharpest of cricketing minds to work out that this has been Somerset's day.

Having skittled a below-par Notts for 193 before tea, Somerset openers Sean Dickson and Matt Renshaw played sensibly in the evening session to see off the new ball and then open up.

Dickson has looked particularly sharp in his opening match of the season with a well-paced unbeaten 70, while Renshaw (34) played a solid supporting role before falling two-and-a-half overs before the close.

Somerset will sleep soundly, having cut the Notts lead to 77 runs with a reassuring nine wickets in hand.

  10. Postpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx 72-2 v Yorks 159

Middlesex knew what they were getting when they signed Leus du Plooy from Derbyshire - a capable, confident batter to strengthen their middle order.

He demonstrates that confidence by taking a couple of steps down the pitch before hammering Mickey Edwards away for four.

Another boundary follows from the next delivery, deflected away square off the back foot.

  11. wicket

WICKET Bell-Drummond lbw 70published at 18:33 British Summer Time 19 April

    Kent 109-3 v Surrey

DBD tucks Tom Lawes away square for a couple of post a century partnership with Jack Leaning.

But the next one is straighter, beats his defensive push and he is gone. A setback for Kent with just a few overs remaining of day one.

George Garrett comes out as nightwatchman.

  12. wicket

WICKET Barnard lbw b Dawson 27published at 18:32 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 338-4

Hampshire have another wicket with just two overs left in the day.

Liam Dawson is very full and he traps Ed Barnard in front, a more than useful wicket after a difficult day.

A glimmer of light for the home side.

  13. Postpublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx 68-2 v Yorks 159

Ben Coad floats one up on leg-stump at half-volley length and Mark Stoneman isn't going to miss out on that one, flicking it away for four.

The experienced left-hander is 31 not out and Middlesex would love him to still be there at the close.

  14. Postpublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 12-0 v Lancashire 146

Feroze Khushi is leading a charmed life as he moves across his stumps and is hit on the pads.

Lancashire are convinced, but Tom Bailey's ball may have been sliding down leg.

That is a better shot off the next ball as he eases it through midwicket for three.

  15. Postpublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 19 April

    Derbys v Leics 148-2

Marcus Harris pushes a ball from Anuj Dal for a single and brings up a 50 partnership for Leicestershire with Lewis Hill, who square cuts the next one for four.

  16. wicket

WICKET Renshaw c Montgomery b Harrison 34published at 18:30 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset 111-1 v Notts 193

    Nelson strikes!

Matt Renshaw plays tentatively at a lovely Calvin Harrison delivery which drifted back and skidded on.

It takes the edge of the Somerset opener's bat and is caught at slip.

    Boy did Notts need that.

Josh Davey is in as nightwatchman. Or nighthawk depending on your perspective.

  17. wicket

WICKET Jones lbw b Coughlin 32published at 18:29 British Summer Time 19 April

    Worcs 69-3 v Durham 244

    Paul Coughlin breaks the partnership.

Rob Jones is caught on the front pad and is given lbw to end a 60-run stand.

Adam Hose joins Jake Libby in the middle.

  18. Postpublished at 18:28 British Summer Time 19 April

    Kent 107-2 v Surrey

Tom Lawes beats Daniel Bell-Drummond outside off stump but the umpire is concerned about his follow-through.

There is a polite reminder to the Surrey paceman not to run down the pitch and Bell-Drummond punching through the covers for four to advance to 68 not out won't make him feel any better.

  19. Postpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 4-0 v Lancashire 146

Feroze Khushi takes a huge swipe at Will Williams' first ball.

It could go anywhere but it flies over the slip cordon and goes down to the boundary. Four runs but not in the manner a batter would choose.

  20. Essex begin replypublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 0-0 v Lancashire 146

Essex begin their reply with Dean Elgar facing Tom Bailey.

The South Africa player is a pretty unflappable character and he will be up for this challenge as he plays out a maiden to Bailey.
