  1. wicket

WICKET Bell lbw b Snater 4published at 16:57 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex 62-5 v Lancashire

We said this was going to be a difficult session for Lancashire and Shane Snater needs only one ball to get a fourth wicket.

George Bell had survived well before tea, but he is pinned plumb in front by Snater.

Lancashire will do well not to be bowled out by stumps in these conditions.

  2. Postpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset 17-0 v Notts 193

Sean Dickson cashes in on a wide ball from Brett Hutton and smashes it to the boundary.

Hutton so nearly gets his revenge with the very next ball.

A lazy shot sees Dickson jab the ball into the ground and it bounces just inches over his stumps.

  3. Final session beginspublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex v Lancashire 62-4

The final session in Chelmsford begins in a familiar way - with a Sam Cook maiden.

We have a possible 30 more overs in this session, so it could be another testing one for the Lancashire batting line-up.

  4. 250 runs

250 for Warwickshirepublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 251-1

The first batting point comes up for Warwickshire, but should be two wickets down instead.

Alex Davies with a genuine edge, but the slip in place is more like second slip and the ball flies between there and the wicketkeeper.

It is definitely Davies' day as he is now on 127.

  5. wicket

WICKET Cooke c Gay b Sanderson 28published at 16:51 British Summer Time 19 April

    Northants v Glamorgan 96-5

The rain delay works for Northants as Chris Cooke plays a loose drive and edges to second slip where Emilio Gay moves to his left to take the catch.

Cooke and Colin Ingram added 69 for the fifth wicket for Glamorgan - and the latter has now been joined by Dan Douthwaite.

  6. Postpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset 10-0 v Notts 193

Luke Fletcher's probing three-over spell concedes two runs, but comes to an end as Dane Paterson takes his place in the attack.

Matt Renshaw clips his first delivery - a full ball - for two, before playing out five dot balls.

Tight start, but Notts will desperately want a breakthrough.

  7. Postpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 19 April

    Kent 22-2 v Surrey

Kemar Roach is slightly too full and Daniel Bell-Drummond simply drops the bat on the ball (not literally) and steers it down to third man for four.

The Kent stalwart is 11 not out with nine overs completed - partner Jack Leaning has one.

  8. Postpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 19 April

    Worcs v Durham 238-8

There's a horribly tinny sound as Adam Finch delivery keeps low and almost catches out Matthew Potts.

He jabs down and keeps it out with the toe of the bat. But he may need a new piece of timber.

Potts and Ben Raine have batted very well and added 36 annoying runs, from Worcestershire's perspective.

  9. 50 runs

50 for Will Rhodespublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 240-1

Will Rhodes tucks one behind square from James Fuller and that runs takes him up to 50.

After a 64 and 178 not out, he has started the season very well.

His current 2024 average is 292!

  10. wicket

WICKET Moriarty c du Plooy b Roland-Jones 14published at 16:43 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx v Yorks 159

Dan Moriarty checks a drive off Toby Roland-Jones - maybe he should have just hit through it.

The ball skews to second slip where Leus du Plooy takes his third catch of the innings and Yorkshire are all out.

Toby Roland-Jones finishes with 3-49, but the best figures of 4-31 go to Ryan Higgins.

  11. 'Surrey will be chuffed with themselves'published at 16:40 British Summer Time 19 April

    Kent 9-2 v Surrey

    Nikki Chaudhuri
    BBC Radio Kent

Ben Compton didn't look too impressed with that decision but Surrey on the other hand will be extremely chuffed with themselves.

We have seen some absolutely magnificent scores in the County Championship.

  12. 150 runs

150 up for Yorkshirepublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx v Yorks 153-9

We are underway again at Lord's, with Yorkshire's last-wicket pair together in the middle.

The 150 comes up as Dan Moriarty collects a boundary off Tom Helm and moves into double figures.

  13. Postpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset 5-0 v Notts 193

Sean Dickson gets the Somerset innings up and running by guiding the first ball of Brett Hutton's second over to the boundary.

Five maidens follow. As you were.

Matt Renshaw then gets off the mark with a thick outside edge as Luke Fletcher concedes his first run.

  14. Play resumes at Kidderminsterpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 19 April

    Worcs v Durham 237-8

We're back under way at Kidderminster and Ben Raine shows intent once more, hitting the fourth ball after tea, off Josh Baker, for four.

Another single moves him to 39 off just 45 balls.

Jason Holder opens up at the other end.

  15. Postpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 19 April

    Kent 13-2 v Surrey

Glorious by Daniel Bell-Drummond, who finds the boundary with an extra-cover drive off Kemar Roach.

The next one is a bit quicker and the right-hander just jabs the bat down on it in time as it angles towards his pads.

  16. Postpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset 0-0 v Notts 193

Luke Fletcher almost catches Matt Renshaw's outside edge with successive balls.

Both were absolute beauties swinging away from the opener. But Renshaw survives. A third successive maiden.

  17. 'How good or bad is 193? We'll find out'published at 16:34 British Summer Time 19 April

Tea: Somerset v Notts 193 all out

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset bowled well, on a pitch with something in it for the seamers in both sessions, but the Notts batting must bear its fair share of responsibility for that 193 all out.

Too many of their batsmen got in, and then got out, with five scoring more than 20, and none getting past 50.

Craig Overton looked like his old self in picking up 3-57, while Lewis Gregory was always a threat, as well as captaining the side with his usual mixture of coolness and command.

How good or bad is 193? We'll find out over the next couple of hours.

  18. Northants on top before the rain returnspublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 19 April

    Tea: Northants v Glamorgan 93-4

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

The bowlers have enjoyed the return of the Dukes ball in the limited play possible so far at Northampton, with Glamorgan crashing to 27-4 at one stage.

Colin Ingram and Chris Cooke have used their experience in a 66-run stand underneath cloudy skies, before more rain prevented the scheduled resumption after tea.

Ben Sanderson, Chris Tremain and 19-year-old Raphy Weatherall all cashed in on the opportunity to bowl first.

But chilly temperatures and the persistent showers have made it a miserable experience for spectators on the ground, even if the home side are on top.

  19. Sixpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 233-1

Will Rhodes takes advantage of a very short legside boundary to slog sweep Liam Dawson for his first six.

Rhodes is on 45 as he closes in on a half century.

  20. 'Six wickets lost but Durham are still going'published at 16:33 British Summer Time 19 April

    Tea: Worcs v Durham 230-8

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham lost six wickets for 112 runs during the session after lunch, but at tea they are still going in their first innings and will resume on 230-8.

They got into a spot of bother when David Bedingham looked to cut a Jason Holder ball and chopped onto his stumps. He made 38 and it ended a third wicket partnership of 71 with Colin Ackermann.

Ackermann was out five overs later for 47, one of three consecutive lbw dismissals. The bowler on this occasion was Joe Leach.

By the time Ben Raine joined Ollie Robinson in the middle, Durham were 141-7 but they put on a quickfire 61. The partnership ended just after Robinson hit two consecutive fours off Matthew Waite, to see him go past 50. The the next delivery was a peach, which moved on him late and he edged to the keeper on 55.
