  1. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex v Lancashire 62-4

Another profitable shorter session for Essex and their bowlers.

A wicket each from Shane Snater and Sam Cook has Lancashire very much in trouble as they grab a short break.

Lots of work from Tom Bruce and George Bell after tea.

  2. wicket

WICKET Compton lbw Worrall 3published at 16:31 British Summer Time 19 April

    Kent 9-2 v Surrey

    Another wicket for Dan Worrall.

Ben Compton walks across his stumps and slightly down the track but the umpire decides that one is hitting and the left-handed opener is gone.

Good start to the evening session by Surrey.

  3. Postpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset 0-0 v Notts 193

Sean Dickson follows his partner and plays out a maiden without trouble from Brett Hutton's opening six balls.

It's glorious sunshine at Taunton, but the wind is whipping across the ground.

  4. Postpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 225-1

Will Rhodes plays possibly his best shot of the day with a very wristy shot through the offside for four off Liam Dawson.

Then in the next over from Mohammad Abbas, Alex Davies steers one down past gully for four more.

Warwickshire starting to accelerate a bit after tea.

  5. Division Two updatepublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 19 April

Gloucestershire are 188-4 after 54 overs against Sussex at Hove. Graeme van Buuren is 13 not out and James Bracey has eight.

There is no play at present because of rain at Derby, where Leicestershire are 85-1, and it's a similar story at Northampton, with Glamorgan on 93-4.

  6. Postpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset 0-0 v Notts 193

Notts have some work to do and Luke Fletcher gets their response under way after tea, bowling to Matt Renshaw.

Fletcher bends his back with a breeze helping to move the ball away from the left-hander, but Renshaw plays out a watchful maiden.

Sean Dickson prepares to face his first ball from Brett Hutton who starts his work at the River End.

  7. wicket

WICKET Crawley c Smith b Worrall 5published at 16:22 British Summer Time 19 April

    Kent 6-1 v Surrey

It's not been a good day for England batters.

Joe Root and Harry Brook failed for Yorkshire earlier in the afternoon and now it's Zak Crawley's turn for a 'short and not so sweet' visit to the middle.

Having nudged one past third slip in Dan Worrall's previous over, he finds the same fielder - Jamie Smith - in the next and he makes no mistake with a low catch.

Five balls faces, five runs - end of.

  8. 'Full credit to the Middlesex bowlers'published at 16:20 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx v Yorks 146-9 - tea

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Full credit to the Middlesex bowlers, they've just been generally line wising in particular there or there about and that is the temptation as a batter to get involved.

They've had the conditions in their favour, particularly since that lengthy break we had, but they've made full use of them and you've got to give them credit for that, you can only do the best you can in the conditions.

So, a lot of hard work for Yorkshire to do. Middlesex have still got to finish them off but I suspect that if we do get anything like the 40 overs that are supposedly remaining on this first day - they could be in for a tough time themselves with the bat.

  9. Postpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 19 April

    Kent 6-0 v Surrey

They are back out in the middle at Canterbury. Dan Worrall has one ball to bowl to complete an over.

He finds the edge of Zak Crawley's bat but it runs away between third slip and gully for four runs.

  10. Sixpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 212-1

What a start to the final session from Alex Davies.

Liam Dawson is bowling and Davies advances down the track and launches it for a big straight six, the first of the innings.

A good way to start for Warwickshire, not quite so much for Hampshire.

  11. Tea at Kidderminsterpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 19 April

    Worcs v Durham 230-8

After an even morning, the afternoon session has gone Worcestershire’s way.

Durham added a healthy 141 runs in that session, with Ollie Robinson making a quickfire 55 in a counter-attacking stand with Ben Raine, and Colin Ackermann fell three runs short of another half-century.

But the visitors have also lost six wickets and will need Raine (33*) and Matthew Potts (20*) to add a few more before strapping on their bowling boots.

The pair have added a useful 28 runs for the ninth wicket.

  12. 'Somerset have bowled really well'published at 16:11 British Summer Time 19 April

Tea: Somerset v Notts 193 all out

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Haseeb Hameed won the toss and elected to bat and it has proven not to be his best decision as Nottinghamshire captain.

The ball has done a bit all day and arguably did a bit more this afternoon than it did this morning.

Somerset have bowled really well with this Dukes ball on this pitch.

  13. wicket

WICKET Charlesworth c Simpson b Seales 62published at 16:11 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex v Glos 171-4

Both contributors to that third-wicket century partnership are now gone.

Jayden Seales angles one across Ben Charlesworth and a thin edge presents keeper John Simpson with a simple catch.

Charlesworth batted for just over three and a half hours, faced 130 balls and hit a six and seven fours.

John Reynolds: How many wickets will Sam Cook have taken before he gets ignored for the first test match in July? #bbccricket

Good question John, he currently has 11 for the season.

  15. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Lord'spublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx v Yorks 146-9

The floodlights were already on with skies darkening over Lord's and now rain has arrived so the players go off, presumably for a cuppa.

Yorkshire have added 105 in the afternoon but at the cost of eight wickets - with Joe Root and Harry Brook managing just five and three respectively.

Ryan Higgins has been the pick of the Middlesex attack with figures of 4-31 from six overs.

  16. wicket

WICKET Hammond lbw Carson 56published at 16:06 British Summer Time 19 April

    Sussex v Glos 167-3

There's some turn there for Jack Carson and he finally brings Gloucestershire's third-wicket partnership to an end on 106 with the wicket of Miles Hammond.

Ben Charlesworth remains on 62 not out and has now been joined by James Bracey.

  17. 'It's going to take something special to dislodge Davies'published at 16:06 British Summer Time 19 April

    Tea: Hampshire v Warwickshire 202-1

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Alex Davies has looked very solid, it looks like it's going to take a decent ball for somebody to get him out.

Obviosly benefitting from that huge double hundred last week, he's picked up where he's left off.

It's going to take something special to not only dislodge him but Will Rhodes and maybe one or two others that might come afterwards.

This is a difficult pitch to bowl on, just like it was last week and the Warwickshire batters - you can tell they're in good form, you can tell they're confident just from the way they are playing.

  18. 50 up for Red Rosepublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex v Lancashire 53-4

It feels like we are having an incident every ball here.

Tom Bruce is drawn into a drive by Shane Snater, away from his body, and the edge goes flying high, just beyond the right hand of Simon Harmer at second slip.

Lancashire have reached 50, but they are in all sorts of bother.

  19. wicket

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 193published at 16:04 British Summer Time 19 April

    Fletcher c Rew b Pretorius 6

Luke Fletcher plays away from his body to a Migael Pretorius delivery which takes the edge.

    And that's tea.

Notts resumed on 72-3 and added 121 runs for the session, but lost their final seven wickets for 75 runs as a number of promising innings failed to flourish.

Craig Overton was again the pick of the bowlers, picking up two more wickets as his fiery post-lunch spell put the skids under the Nottinghamshire first innings.

Joe Clarke (39) and Matt Montgomery (48) both fell just as they were looking set for big scores, while Lyndon James (18) and Brett Hutton (20) also made starts without going on.

  20. wicket

WICKET Coad c du Plooy b Higgins 24published at 16:03 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx v Yorks 142-9

In terms of what went on earlier in the afternoon, that's not a bad innings by Ben Coad - but now it's over.

Ryan Higgins sends one down on middle and leg but finds enough movement away to take the edge and Leus du Plooy again provides a safe pair of hands at second slip.

Mickey Edwards is Yorkshire's final batter - and Higgins needs the last wicket for a five-for.
