In terms of confidence, I am not there in the level I want yet in this Red Bull. Maybe Max can do it or maybe he felt a difference in the first corner. In the time that I am learning about the car, it's quite difficult. It's getting there, in terms of confidence, everything, the pace was good, more than ever so far in the race week. But it ended up like this, it feels like I am not able to execute and extract performance from the car, It's very frustrating."

On top of that, I had quite a lot of damage to the floor, which I expected, given how hard the car was to drive. In the end. obviously not happy because too many issues, too many problems and at the end a Q1 exit.

On his chances for Sunday's race: "We'll see tomorrow. Today was not our day; way too many problems again in qualifying and we need to find out why we are experiencing so many problems. I've been the fastest of the midfield on race pace, which gives encouragement for tomorrow, but we're definitely starting too far back."

Karl: Yuki Tsunoda is going to have to go. The car may suit Max Verstappen better but ...

Oh dear me, I feel for Sainz, but happy for Bortoleto. With regards to Tsunoda. Getting used to seeing Red Bull as a one man team. Lawson must feel like he has had a lucky escape. This season is the best type of advertising for Perez to be seen as a magician, and help his chances of returning with Cadillac. No?

    Andrew Benson
    BBC F1 correspondent

[Lando Norris] is 22 points behind now, there's still 14 races to go, but that is nearly a whole win and if that gap keeps climbing, then Lando is going to not only find it difficult mathematically but the pressure starts to build in that situation. It's important he bounces back this weekend.
