I'm trying to wrap my head around where Chelsea go from now. Do you keep chasing and buying players or is it a mental or tactical thing?

The gulf shouldn't be that big. Every individual player put in the effort they wanted to be there, but the gulf is too big and I don't really understand why. It shouldn't be 8-2.

Chelsea lost 4-1 to Barcelona (8-2 on aggregate) at Stamford Bridge to see both their Champions League and quadruple hopes go up in smoke.

It is a little bit of an embarrassment to Chelsea.

When you look at the semi-finals last year, they only lost 2-1 over two legs. You would have thought they could close the gap, but it looks like the gap has got even bigger.

Chelsea lost the semi-final in the final 10 minutes of the first leg, conceding to late goals to leave them with a three-goal deficit to overturn at Stamford Bridge.

Their slim Champions League hopes were then killed off in the first 45 minutes of the second leg, with Aitana Bonmati, Ewa Pajor, and Claudia Pina on the scoresheet for Barcelona.

Salma Paralluelo put the icing on the cake for the defending champions in 90th minute and although Wieke Kaptein pulled one back for Chelsea, it was nothing more than a consolation.

It's a very similar strike to Aitana Bonmati's in the first half and a really good finish.

It's poor defending again as Niamh Charles tries to shepherd the ball to goalkeeper Hannah Hampton. She's battling all the way with Salma Paralluelo and the Barcelona substitute sticks out her left leg and pokes the ball in.
