The latest from Wantage Road is that there will be a further pitch inspection at 4pm.

There cannot be too many overs left anyway if they do make it on the field for Northants to collect the seven wickets they need.

  5. Will the Price be right for Glos?published at 15:27 British Summer Time 22 April

    Sussex 60-2 - Target 144

Tom Price is thrown the ball for Gloucestershire. He must produce some magic for his team and quickly.

But that is a pearler from Pujara - a terrific cut shot for four.

  6. Postpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 22 April

    Sussex 56-2 - Target 144

Cheteshwar Pujara picks up a single off Zafar Gohar and he moves to 16 off 18 balls. This is reassuring stuff from the India batter.

    Only 88 runs to win.

  7. Postpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 22 April

    Sussex 54-2 - Target 144

Cracking shot off the back foot from Cheteshwar Pujara adds four to the total.

    That is the 50 up.

Zaman Akhter spears another one down leg and Pujara touches it down fine for another boundary.

  8. 'It's got a little bit brighterpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 22 April

    Sussex 46-2 - Target 144

    Isabelle Duncan
    BBC Sussex

It's not that gloomy now, it's got a little bit brighter.

Sussex will be praying for no rain.

  9. Postpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 22 April

    Hampshire 365 v Warwickshire 455 & 205-4

Tea is called at Utilita Bowl with the players still off for rain.

Surely only a matter of time before this one is called. It is going to be a draw whether they return to the field or not.

  11. 'Surrey have got variety in their attack'published at 15:15 British Summer Time 22 April

    Kent 244 & 262 v Surrey 543-7 dec - Surrey won by inns & 37 runs

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

Kent have been decimated by injuries, we've seen quite an inexperienced bowling attack and they've shown a lot of heart, a lot of fight and taking that forward when they play sides who maybe haven't got the strength of Surrey, I think they will compete and there's enough here that will really please the coaching staff.

Meanwhile Surrey go back up the A2 with maximum points, a full 24 from this game.

Kent have got bigger fish to fry, they've got Worcestershire soon which is a huge game given the context of the season.

Cameron Steel continues his wonderful start with his six wickets in the game here again.

Surrey have got variety in their attack, having a leg-spinner in there who is picking up wickets. Steel is really proving to be somebody who influences games week in week out.

  12. Postpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 22 April

    Sussex 42-2 - Target 144

Too straight from Zaman Akhter and that is tickled fine for four leg byes.

Cheteshwar Pujara moves to three with another push into the covers.

A second four leg-byes in the over as Tom Haines is stuck on the pads. It was too high for LBW, but it runs between wicketkeeper and first slip and down to the rope.

Then Haines gets three off the final ball with a lovely drive through the offside.

  13. Pujara up and runningpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 22 April

    Sussex 30-2 - Target 144

Tom Haines takes a single to bring Cheteswar Pujara on strike.

Pujara steers one into the offside - there is a bit of hesitation - but he gets home in time.

A run-out in these circumstances would not be welcome!

Haines takes one more, and Pujara's second run is a whole lot more leisurely.

  14. 'Feels a little bit harsh on Kent'published at 15:10 British Summer Time 22 April

    Kent 244 & 262 v Surrey 543-7 dec - Surrey won by inns & 37 runs

    Ben Watts
    BBC Radio Kent

You have to say, for all the joking around, we fully expected Surrey to come here and finish off the job. We probably expected them to finish it two hours quicker than they have done.

So, some credit must go to the Kent bowlers, tail end and obviously Joey Evison.

It feels a little bit harsh on Kent, they've battled hard at times with just a couple of points for their efforts and Surrey walking away with the full collection.

You probably expected this outcome if there was enough cricket in this game with the amount of players that Kent were missing.

But I think some of those batters have shown today that maybe a few of the senior guys missed out.

The Surrey bowlers have all got so much quality, they can rotate their guys around and you know that they are each going to contribute and pick up wickets.

  15. Postpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 22 April

A quick reminder that the players are off the field at the two 'hamptons - Southampton and Northampton (indeed they haven't been on it all day so far at the latter).

There is an inspection taking place at Wantage Road and we'll update you on the prospects asap.

  16. Close!published at 15:07 British Summer Time 22 April

    Sussex 26-2 - Target 144

An excellent over from Zaman Akhter nearly ends with a threatening lifter.

It catches the splice of Tom Haines' bat and balloons in the air, but there is no gully and it lands safely.

  17. Here comes Pujarapublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 22 April

To break up the run of left-handed Toms, Cheteshwar Pujara strides to the crease.

A veteran of 103 Tests averaging 43.6, he can steady any Sussex nerves.

  18. wicket

WICKET Alsop lbw b Gohar 4published at 15:02 British Summer Time 22 April

    Sussex 25-2 - Target 144

That is unlucky! Zafar Gohar gets turn and bounce from the foot-holes outside the off-stump of Tom Alsop, but it beats everything and runs down for four byes.

Unlucky on a second count as Alsop misses a reverse sweep. He is hit on the pad and the ball goes to leg slip.

    Not out on both counts.

But this time, Alsop has to go!

The left-hander going back to a ball that turns into him, hit on the pads and that is out!

  19. Sussex in a hurrypublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 22 April

    Sussex 21-1 - Target 144

With rain along the south coast in Southampton, Sussex won't want to nurdle this around. There will be an element of speed to this chase.

But they can only get one off Zaman Akhter's over with Tom Alsop moving to four with a pull to fine leg.

  20. Postpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 22 April

    Sussex 20-1 - Target 144

Tom Alsop is the new batter - another left-handed Tom for Sussex.

And he starts with a reverse sweep for two.

He pulls his second ball out to deep backward square for a single.
