  1. New PB for Parkinsonpublished at 14:05 22 April

    Kent 244 & 222-7 v Surrey 543-7 dec

Matt Parkinson flashes Tom Lawes down to third man for four and reaches his best score in first-class cricket - 33 not out.

He has faced 122 balls now, but can't allow himself to feel too comfortable if he is to keep Kent's hopes of securing a draw alive.

It's not been a bad match for Parky - he took five wickets on day three, albeit at a cost of 177 runs.

  2. New ballpublished at 14:05 22 April

    Sussex 479 v Gloucestershire 417 & 178-8

Zafar Gohar and Zaman Akhter put on 86 for the ninth wicket in the first innings of this game.

Gloucestershire need something similar from this pair again.

They have already added 12 here.

But they have to prepare to face Ollie Robinson and a new Dukes ball.

  3. 'Chaos out there now for Gloucestershire'published at 14:03 22 April

    Sussex 479 v Gloucestershire 417 & 174-8

    Isabelle Duncan
    BBC Sussex

Goodman is out, PDQ - pretty darn quick. He's only faced two deliveries and they've got rid of him.

Chaos out there now for Gloucestershire.

Having broken up that partnership of Miles Hammond and Zafar Gohar, it's all crumbling around them now.

  4. Postpublished at 14:03 22 April

    Kent 244 & 217-7 v Surrey 543-7 dec

Cameron Steel is fractionally short and Matt Parkinson seizes on it, pulling the ball away for four.

He is 29 not out - just one run short of his highest score in first-class cricket.

  5. Postpublished at 13:59 22 April

    Hampshire 365 v Warwickshire 455 & 197-4

Four overs since lunch and 13 singles acquired from Rob Yates and Jacob Bethell.

The Bears lead by 287 with 62 overs left in the game.

  6. Postpublished at 13:56 22 April

    Kent 244 & 213-7 v Surrey 543-7 dec

Matt Parkinson knows a thing or two about leg-spin variations.

But he is almost undone by a well-disguised Cameron Steel googly which hurries onto him - he manages to jab down on the ball at the last moment.

Just three wickets needed by Surrey for their first win of the summer.

  7. WICKET Goodman lbw b Carson 0published at 13:56 22 April

    Sussex 479 v Gloucestershire 417 & 166-8

Two in three balls for Jack Carson!

It's a pair for Dominic Goodman from a total of just four balls!

Absolutely no doubt about this one as Carson turns one past the bat and into the pads. Plumb!

Gloucestershire's lead is just 104 with two wickets remaining.

  8. WICKET Hammond lbw b Carson 77published at 13:53 22 April

    Sussex 479 v Gloucestershire 417 & 166-7

The key wicket that Sussex wanted.

Only 2.2 overs from the new ball and Jack Carson prizes out Miles Hammond.

Coming over the wicket, Carson is straight enough to the left-hander to get the decision as he hits the pads.

  9. 'A crucial wicket for Surrey'published at 13:53 22 April

    Kent 244 & 213-7 v Surrey 543-7

    Ben Watts
    BBC Radio Kent

That is a crucial wicket for Surrey.

The final remaining out and out batsman for Kent, Joey Evison, goes for 53 and that could set Surrey up on their way to victory.

  10. WICKET Evison c Foakes b Lawes 53published at 13:52 22 April

    Kent 244 & 213-7 v Surrey 543-7 dec

A strength can sometimes be a weakness.

Having hit two fours at the start of the over, Joey Evison is tempted into another square cut off Tom Lawes, but this time edges to Ben Foakes, who is never going to drop that kind of chance.

George Garrett, who made a career-best 48 in the first innings, is Kent's new batter.

  11. 'A game of maths and meteorology'published at 13:50 22 April

    Hampshire 365 v Warwickshire 455 & 185-4

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

There's clearly a desire to try and get a cricket match on here.

It's a game of maths and meteorology this afternoon.

  12. New ball due soonpublished at 13:49 22 April

    Sussex 479 v Gloucestershire 417 & 159-6

A huge LBW shout from Jack Carson against Zafar Gohar.

Umpire Mark Newell's call is not out.

That was a very vociferous Sussex appeal. Are they starting to get a bit fed-up with this partnership?

They only have four overs to wait for the new ball.

  13. 50 for Joey Evisonpublished at 13:49 22 April

    Kent 244 & 213-6 v Surrey 543-7

    Well batted, Joey Evison.

He cuts Tom Lawes square for back-to-back boundaries and reaches his half-century off 117 balls.

  14. Bears still battingpublished at 13:46 22 April

    Hampshire 365 v Warwickshire 455 & 184-4

The news from Southampton is that Warwickshire have returned to the crease.

If they are still batting in half an hour, we know how this one is going to play out.

  15. Match abandoned at Tauntonpublished at 13:43 22 April

    Somerset 454 v Notts 193 & 440-2

The rain has beaten the sides at Taunton.

Will Young (174*) and Joe Clarke (213*) managed to add 22 runs in the nine overs that were possible before rain stopped play.

With covers across the wicket, and a forecast that promised rain, rain and more rain, the umpires have done the decent thing and called an end to the match with Notts leading by 179 runs with eight wickets in hand.

We'll never know whether either side could have forced a result, but it gives Somerset 15 points from a third successive draw and lifts them up to second - for now at least.

Notts take 10 points and climb to sixth, but will be heartened by their spectacular second innings fightback.

  16. Back under waypublished at 13:42 22 April

    Sussex 479 v Gloucestershire 417 & 156-6

Certainly not desperation time for Sussex but they are beginning this session with opening bat Tom Alsop thrown the ball.

Alsop bowls left-arm slingy stuff from a spinner's run-up. Not particularly conventional.

The first ball gets a bit of bounce, while he is appealing for a catch behind off the second. Not out.

  17. Postpublished at 13:41 22 April

    Kent 244 & 203-6 v Surrey 543-7 dec

The umpires and players are on their way out at the Spitfire Ground.

Can Kent survive another two sessions? If will be a fantastic achievement if they can manage it.

They need another 96 runs to make Surrey bat again.

  18. Match abandoned at Derbypublished at 13:27 22 April

    Derbyshire 167 & 224-6 v Leics 574-7 dec

Soggy conditions at DerbyImage source, Rex Features

    Well that’s that at Derby.

If the home supporters plumped for the rain dance option, it worked as persistent morning rain and a sopping wet outfield has prompted the umpires to call an early finish to the match.

It leaves both sides with their third draws of the season, but it’s perfectly clear who the moral victors were here.

Leicestershire’s attack had worked hard to prise out 16 Derbyshire wickets - with an 183-run lead - after piling on the first innings run and declaring.

It earns them a decent 16-point tally and keeps them right in with the early season pace-setters in Division Two.

They’re second as it stands - a point behind Middlesex - but likely to be leapfrogged by Sussex who are on top of their match with Gloucestershire.

After picking up one bowling point, Derbyshire have taken just four bonus points from their opening three matches and move up to fourth for the time being.

Durham have signed veteran Australian pace bowler Peter Siddle for their next six Championship games.

He will replace compatriot Scott Boland, whose time with the club has been ended by injury.

Siddle has previously played for Essex, Notts, Lancashire and Somerset.

  20. 'From ball one, we were on it'published at 13:24 22 April

Jamie Porter takes a wicket for EssexImage source, Rex Features

Whatever happens today, Essex will be top of the Division One table at the end of this round of matches following their three-day innings win over Lancashire at Chelmsford.

They bowled out the Red Rose for just 107 in 40.3 overs, with Jamie Porter and Shane Snater taking three wickets each.

"It was just a great team performance. From ball one we were on it, everyone chipped in - yeah, a great result," Porter told BBC Essex.

Essex will make the long trip to Chester-le-Street to take on Durham in round four, starting on Friday.
