Racing Bulls ring the phone of Isack Hadjar and the rookie comes in, is fitted with the softs and rejoins the action in eighth spot, ahead of team-mate Liam Lawson in ninth. Team work-dream work.

Charles Leclerc is asking Ferrari what they want him to do. Simple reply: Plan B, stay with Lando Norris.

Pierre Gasly, unsurprisingly, is out of this Monaco Grand Prix.

They've had to close the pit lane, such a lot of damage for the Alpine car and now the mechanics are at Pierre Gasly's car, trying to re-fit a front wing. They're busy trying to get him back out but for the time being everyone else is not allowed to come in and pit. A bit of jeopardy and headache trying to fit two stops in this race

Lando Norris is leading, Charles Leclerc is second and Oscar Piastri stays in third. It's been eventful already in Moanco.

    Lap 11/78

Pierre Gasly and Alpine could be in trouble today, with the Frenchman slowly making his way around the cocruit with damage. Max Verstappen was all over Oscar Piastri for third place just before the double yellows but there's no overtakes here.

You've got to bear in mind, they have to ensure they don't pit into traffic. There's no point putting fresh tyres on if you're going to get stuck behind someone going long on the hards, so that's why they want to build a gap. The problem is will these medium tyres that Lando Norris, [Charles] Leclerc and Oscar Piastri have, will the tyres last long enough for them to be able to do that? Over Max Verstappen, [Fernando] Alonso and [Lewis] Hamilton behind them on the hards.

  9. yellow flag

    Lap 10/78

A smack right at Nouvelle chicane. Pierre Gasly, with Yuki Tsunoda ahead of him, exits the tunnel, into the daylight, and a lock-up sends him clattering into the Red Bull. The double yellow flags were waved as Gasly shot across the corner, narrowly avoiding other cars.

    Lap 9/78

Pierre Gasly is limping in the Alpine. The front left wheel is hanging on for dear life. Looks like the Frenchman has hit the back of Yuki Tsunoda's Red Bull.

There is debris all over the track and Gasly is desperately trying to make his way back to the pits.

Michael Heal: VSC will have helped Lando and his tyres for a brief period. Huge lock up but got away with it

Esteban Ocon is on the tail of Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari, but the seven-time world champion can't yet make a dint in Fernando Alonso in sixth.

Yellow flags. Has there been on off?

  13. 'Looks like they are trying to get as big a gap as possible'published at 14:14 British Summer Time 25 May

    Damon Hill

What is going to happen with the guys in front, are they going to try and leg it?

Tyre wear is not an issue so they can burn up their tyres, and it looks to me like they are putting their hammer down and trying to get as big a gap as possible from the rest of the field.

When they then make their pit stop, they can get ahead of most of the guys who are going to hold them up.

The fastest lap of the race goes to... Oliver Bearman down in 19th place. The Briton has clean air and is rapid on his new hard tyres.

  15. Norris leading Leclercpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 25 May

    Lap 6/78

Lando Norris is just under two seconds clear of home driver Charles Leclerc, as Oscar Piastri lags behind slightly by over five seconds. Max Verstappen sits fourth and rookie Isack Hadjar is keeping his nose clean in fifth.

    Lap 5/78

The cars head up the hill to Massenet and Casino Square and it's a two-horse race between Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc. The two drivers slow right down at hairpin, with Oscar Piastri a couple of seconds behind.

It was a slow stop [for Oliver Bearman], they were trying to fit the left tyre on the right hand wheel, not helpful. What a difficult weekend Ollie Bearman has had.

The point to make about the guys who pitted is that ordinarily with the safety car they would be able to close up to the back of the field, but they can't under the virtual safety car so they have to maintain a steady pace.

They will have to make the gap up once the race gets under way again.

  19. Virtual safety carpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 25 May

    Lap 4/78

The top 10 remains the same with Lando Norris leading, Charles Leclerc in second and Oscar Piastri in third. That lock-up for Norris could've been a first corner disaster but he holds a decent margin to the Ferrari Leclerc as the VSC ends.

  20. Virtual safety carpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 25 May

    Lap 3/78

Liam Lawson has actually started on the medium tyre in Monaco. Yuki Tsunoda is now on hards in P17 and Pierre Gasly also made a dive into the pits and is a medium runner from his starting hards.
