    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 9-0

Oooh - Ben Compton gets a big inside edge on a James Anderson delivery and it goes past his stumps while also evading the dive of Matthew Hurst.

Lancashire are on the attack here with a leg slip and Keaton Jennings is wearing a helmet as he's fielding very close at second slip.

Maybe it is deteriorating already Anthony?!

A proper off-spinner's dismissal from Corey Rocchiccioli.

James Rew passes his average of 43, but that is a genuine bit of spin and neat catch behind from Kai Smith.

81 balls Rew faced, Tom Banton in at six again in this match in Lewis Gregory's absence.

    I would rather bat last.

I do not expect this pitch to deteriorate much, just a few bowlers' footmarks to slightly worry about.

There probably will be reverse swing, but based on the first innings probably not until roughly the 50 over mark.

  4. Postpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 25 June

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 1-0

A single from the 13th ball of the day gets Kent off the mark.

The visiting batsmen can expect a stiff examination early on with the new ball so these are dangerous moments for Kent who have lost their past four matches.

  5. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 25 June

    Essex 296 & 108-3 v Hants 453

A promising start to the morning for Hampshire, who need seven Essex wickets if they are to force victory on day four.

The visitors have already created a couple of half-chances in the opening stages.

Kyle Abbott found an outside edge that dropped short of the slip cordon, before Liam Dawson appeared to drift one onto the pads of Tom Westley.

It appeared a very good shout, but not good enough for the umpire to give it out.

  6. 50 runs

50 for James Rewpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 25 June

    Warwickshire 351 v Somerset 498 & 122-3

A boundary from the final ball of the first over sees 66 balls and now seven fours for James Rew's 50.

His fourth 50 of this season, two being hundreds.

Six off the first over today.

Ollie Hannon-Dalby will open from the Pavilion End with this 28-over-old ball.

  7. Postpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 25 June

    Durham 327 v Sussex 361 & 112-4

Sussex nick a single off the first over of the morning.

You feel the onus is on Durham to take wickets to set something up otherwise we'll be shaking hands at around 4:50pm and Sussex can start the long journey south a bit earlier.

    Sussex lead by 146 runs.

  8. Postpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 25 June

    Notts 487 v Yorkshire 414-6

Liam Patterson-White gets proceedings under way with the ball for Nottinghamshire, his 53rd over of the innings.

George Hill and Matt Revis play out an incident-free six deliveries and Yorkshire now trail by 72.

Barring something remarkable or ridiculous, this game is heading towards a draw.

  9. Postpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 25 June

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 0-0

James Anderson opens the bowling for Lancashire.

The stand-in skipper is writing the theme tune but can he sing it today?

His first two deliveries are right on the money and Ben Compton plays them defensively before a third brings an lbw appeal but it's clearly heading down leg side.

  10. Play at Grace Roadpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 25 June

    Leicestershire 576-7 dec v Glamorgan 353 & 131-3

Ben Green takes the first over to Sam Northeast on 72*.

    Colin Ingram is 37*.

  11. Under way at Edgbastonpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 25 June

    Warwickshire 351 v Somerset 498 & 116-3

Corey Rocchiccioli will open the bowling from the City End to James Rew on 45*.

Tom Abell is at the non-striker's end on 5*.

  12. Declarationpublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 25 June

    Lancs 639-9d v Kent 374 & 0-0

This first piece of news this morning is Lancashire have declared on their overnight 639-9.

Kent are 265 runs behind - they will need to bat the whole day to save this one.

Sussex 111-4 lead Durham by 145

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It was a disappointing day yesterday, with four stoppages in the afternoon caused by a mix of rain and bad light. In all 34 overs were lost.

So, the game has not had the opportunity to progress the way we were hoping it would, particularly after nine wickets fell in 33 overs from Monday night to Tuesday lunchtime.

If we are to see anything other than a draw, then Sussex are going to have to come out and play some attacking shots this morning to try to set up some kind of run chase later. Or Durham's bowlers are really going to have to be on the money from the off.

The light is not too bad at the moment and the radar doesn't look too bad either, so hopefully we get a full day in.

  15. De Caires still hopeful of Middlesex victorypublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 25 June

All-rounder Josh de Caires believes there is still enough time for Middlesex to force a win in their Championship game at Northampton.

De Caires - in his first Championship game of the season - made 87 as they reached 215-3 at the close, a lead of 193, with three sessions remaining in the game.

"Definitely with the outfield and stuff like that, you can still score quite quickly if you want to so it'll just be a case of managing the scoring rate in the morning and hopefully having a go at them at some point," he said.

"It’s probably not spun as much as everyone expected the first couple of days, but the rough's definitely opening up now and (Calvin) Harrison definitely got a few from the straight to myself and a few others, so yeah, I guess from our side we'll be hoping it continues to spin more and more."

  16. Kent to face final day pressurepublished at 10:54 British Summer Time 25 June

    Lancs 639-9 v Kent 374

Luke Wells acknowledges the applause for his century against KentImage source, PA Media

Centuries by Luke Wells, Josh Bohannon and Ashton Turner on debut have given Lancashire a chance of defeating Kent on the final day of the County Championship match at Blackpool and thereby securing their first red-ball victory of the season.

Replying to the visitors' 374, Lancashire were 639-9 at the close after a day in which their batsmen savaged Daniel Bell-Drummond's attack.

Wells made 152, Bohannon 124 and Turner a career-best 154 on a day when their county amassed the highest total in matches between the sides.

Lancashire will go into the final day with a lead of 261 and the decision facing stand-in skipper James Anderson is whether to declare overnight or club a few more runs before trying to force a win on a docile surface.

  17. Foxes look to stretch lead at toppublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 25 June

    Leicestershire 576-7 dec v Glamorgan 353 & 131-3

Leicestershire fancy a sixth win of this Championship season today.

They are still on top of this one having racked up 576 before Peter Handscomb surprisingly declared only seven down, with Ben Green and Logan van Beek both going well way past 50.

Three quick wickets made me think Leicestershire could seal the win yesterday, but Colin Ingram and Sam Northeast used all their experience in the evening session, reducing the deficit to 92.

Northeast hit a record 410* on this ground three years ago, so that sharp chance given to second slip when he was on 20 could be a source of regret for the home side, as this fourth wicket partnership is now unbroken at 95.

Logan van Beek was the star of yesterday with his runs and two wickets - expect him to lead the attack alongside his batting partner Ben Green today.

Somerset will still be ruing their missed opportunities in this one.

Warwickshire scraped past the follow on yesterday, but probably would not have done had Migael Pretorius not bowled nine no balls and had Messrs Craig Overton, Archie Vaughan, Jack Leach and James Rew taken their catching chances.

Somerset lead by 263 runs but how long do they bat before declaring?

Warwickshire bowling them out may even be the best chance of either side winning this game - a tantalising 300 chase could tempt the home team as Tom Latham said last night:

"They are in a strong position but we are still very much in the game and will turn up tomorrow with the belief that we can win the game."

Sussex edged in front of Durham but a weather-affected day makes the draw the most likely outcome of this Division One County Championship game.

Australia bowler Gurinder Sandhu took four wickets in the morning to finish with 5-83 as Durham were bowled out for 327, a deficit of 34 after the first innings.

After the visitors had fallen to 27-3 in the game's third innings, James Coles added 53 to his unbeaten 148 in the first knock.

However there were four separate stoppages for rain and bad light over the last two sessions until play was finally called with Sussex 111-4.

  20. Division Two standingspublished at 10:49 British Summer Time 25 June

    Div 2 table

In Division Two, leaders Leicestershire are firmly on top against Glamorgan, while struggling Lancashire will try to put pressure on bottom side Kent after a dominant day three.

Gloucestershire and Derbyshire look set for a draw after a run-laden Tuesday and it is a similar story in the match between Northamptonshire and Middlesex, although the latter will be more hopeful of a victory.
