Vivianne Miedema picks up the ball with her back to goal, but she quickly turns out and takes a hit at goal.

There's not enough power on the strike and the ball slowly ends up in the the safe hands of Brighton goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley.

Pauline Bremer is clearly keen to score against her former club.

She dives to get on that Jorelyn Carabalí cross, but she ends up getting her hand to it, directing it towards goal.

No fooling the referee there.

The former City player sprints down the left wing, beating Yui Hasegawa, but her cut back is dealt with by Alex Greenwood.

Ayaka Hamashita had raced off her line there and if Bremer's ball had found a Brighton attacker then they would have had an empty net to aim for.

Another chance for Khadija Shaw. She's getting closer.

Sophie Baggaley was rooted to her spot in the Brighton goal as Shaw's glancing header trickles out past the post.

Khadija Shaw wriggles free of a few Brighton defenders, plays a one-two with Lauren Hemp and then goes for goal. Her curling strike is always rising and it whizzes over the crossbar.

Naomi Layzell absolutely clatters into Bruna and is lucky not to earn herself the first booking of the match.

Manchester City can't take their eyes off the ball. That counter-attack shows just how dangerous Brighton can be.

It comes to an end, though, when Maria Thorisdottir hits wide with a lacklustre effort.

Brighton are looking very well-drilled and being patient not chasing. Man City are trying to tease them into chasing the ball, wearing them down. City like to have possession and that's what they're trying to do.

Some nice link up play from Lauren Hemp and Jess Park down the right wing before Park whips in a cross.

Again Brighton keep the ball way from Khadija Shaw, but the clearance falls to Hemp who fizzes a low strike straight into the hands of Sophie Baggaley.

After playing out from the back, Brighton play one pass too many and Maria Thorisdottir hands Manchester City a free-kick after tugging Lauren Hemp's shirt and pulling the England international down.

The ball is whipped in towards Khadija Shaw, but the Brighton defence are quick to clear.
