England's Rajiv Ouseph was pushed hard throughout the opening game, but a little extra polish and quality in the closing stages ensure that he bags up the first 21-18 against India's Kashyap Parupalli in their semi-final.

Over on the adjacent court Ouseph's team-mates Chris Langridge and Heather Olver are leading 16-8 in the third and deciding game of their mixed doubles semi-final against Malaysia's Lai Pei Jing and Peng Soon Chan.

After two minutes of relatively even splashing around on the sodden astroturf, Australia moved forward and earn a penalty corner. The ball finds Tristan White, who fires low past George Pinner in the England goal. "Pinner will be disappointed with that," says former GB Olympic champion Sean Kerly. "A bit of a soft goal for England to concede." Watch the match here.

Nothing but net. England's goal attack Kadeen Corbin scores her second goal to pull England level at 2-2. Plenty of hustle and harry out there with the two defences getting in the faces of the opposing attack.

"The English girls definitely have a chance. They have been building through the competition after they lost against Australia in the early rounds. That fired up them up and they are ready for today.

"The Kiwis are missing their top two shooters, that is a big weakness but they have managed to pull it together and produce a good team performance.

"Netball is not an easy game, Serena Guthrie has taken a few hits at centre for England but she has always got up with a smile on her face and has made that position her own."

The players are announced to the crowd and Jo Harten, the first name on England's teamsheet, waits carefully until the tannoy lady says her name before scampering out on court.

In the group game against South Africa, she got a little eager and was left lurking on court on her own, much to her team-mate's amusement and her own bemusement.

Overall I think she styled it out with class.

Meanwhile in the warm and dry of the SECC, England shooter Jo Harten is sinking a few warm-up goals ahead of her team's semi-final against defending champions New Zealand.

The two teams met at the same stage of the World Championships back in 2011 and New Zealand accelerated away to win in the third quarter.

There is lots of green and gold on display at the Glasgow Hockey Centre. Most of it comes in polythene poncho form though. It is hosing down on the England and Australia teams as they try and warm up ahead of their semi-final.

Australia have won every men's hockey title since the sport was introduced to the Commonwealth Games in 1998 and they have not given much hope to those hoping to break that stranglehold.

They have scored 22 goals and conceded only three in their four wins so far.

England have ended up in their sights after losing 2-1 to New Zealand to finish second in their group.

Scotland's Lynsey Sharp, who won silver in the 800m on Friday evening - just hours after being on a drip - has been speaking to BBC Breakfast: "I left the clinic in the village at 5:30 yesterday morning. Everyone was on their way home after a night out. I was at a pretty low point but knew I would still compete. Something took over in me. After the journey I have been on I wouldn't let this last thing take me down.

"I had surgery in September and then again in October, it was meant to be a quick recovery but mine was extremely complicated, I need to have more surgery next month because I've got a chronic infection.

"It all sunk in when I looked down at the medal on the podium. I hadn't taken in the fact I would have a medal, I had seen a few in the village, but this is mine, it was an unbelievable moment."

England's Claudia Fragapane, who won four gold medals across the gymnastics in Glasgow, speaking to BBC Breakfast: "I had such determination to do well. The Commonwealth Games is such an amazing event, I wanted to go out there and give my all. The girls were right beside me all the time and pushed me on, which was great.

"Before the Games I turned my phone off just to block it all out and going through all the messages afterwards from my family means so much. They have been there since I was six and have helped keep me going.

"When I was little my size wasn't so good for bars, I had such small hands that it was difficult to swing but now I can swing across without so much action, so that's an advantage over the bigger girls.

"It's only just sinking in now, getting four medals is amazing. I wasn't expecting to come out with four. I thought maybe I would get gold with the team and come in the top three in the individual events, it's incredible."

If you haven't seen it already, Fragapane's floor routine from yesterday is worth two minutes of your time. She makes the surface look like lino the way she spins into some of the break-dancing inspired parts of her routine.

It could be an an all-English final in the mixed doubles. The Adcocks' team-mates Chris Langridge and Heather Olver have taken the first game of their semi-final against Malaysia's and are 17-13 to the good in the second.

Meanwhile England's Rajiv Ouseph is about to take on India's Kashyap Parupalli, a man he has already beaten in straight games in the team event, for a place in the final of the men's singles.

England's Chris and Gabby Adcock never allowed Scotland's Robert Blair and Imogen Bankier into the game. They wrap up a relatively comfortable victory 21-14 21-14 and Bankier, who had been showing signs of frustration during the match, just looked shell-shocked by the end.

Cursory but courteous handshakes between the pairs at the end.

Tom Daley and synchro sidekick James Denny produced a fantastic final dive to come within 0.18 points of snatching gold from last place in the 3m springboard final yesterday.

Daley will be in solo action tonight, defending the title that he won four years ago and trying to get to grips with the so-called demon dive - a double-back twister - which has been a sticking point in the last couple of years.

If he need a little confidence booster before climbing the steps up to 10m platform in today's preliminaries at 11:38 BST, the 20-year-old could do worse than watch himself score seven perfect 10s at Delhi 2010.

One of the most dramatic moments of yesterday's action was England's women progressing to this evening's final via a penalty shoot-out against New Zealand.

As almost everybody wryly commented, it was in stark contrast with their male footballing counterparts.

There are a couple more semi-finals for England fans to sweat over this afternoon. Both begin at 10:00 BST and both are against the defending champions.

The netballers are up against New Zealand while the men's hockey team take on a rampant Australian side.

So far it is gong with seeding at the Emirates Arena with the top-ranked Chris and Gabby Adcock keeping a lid on the home fans as they seal the first game 21-14 in 16 minutes.

An authoritative start and Imogen Bankier and Robert Blair are deep in discussions with one of their coaches at the changeover as they plot a way back into the match.

BBC Sport badminton expert, on Radio 5 live

"We've got some great England-Scotland representation. The big one has to be the England-Scotland clash in the mixed doubles at 09:00 BST. Imogen Bankier and Robert Blair of Scotland take on the number one seeds and number five pair in the world Chris and Gabby Adcock. On paper the English pair should win comfortably but the last time they met the Scottish pair won and the crowd are going to be so excited.

"There is a lot of history between the players so it could get a bit feisty on court. Robert Blair used to play men's doubles with Chris, but they had a bit of a falling out. Imogen and Gabby are completely different personalities and have never been the best of friends. There is just that added edge when they go on court."

One of those 22 semi-finals is already under way and, never mind the sharp end, this one has an edge as well.

England's husband and wife pair Chris and Gabby Adcock are taking on Scotland's Imogen Bankier and Robert Blair.

There is some history to fill you in on.

Before London 2012, Team GB chiefs decided that Chris Adcock should partner up with Bankier rather than his then-fiancee Gabby White.

Together they lost all three of their group matches and Bankier subsequently left the British high-performance squad to form an all-Scottish partnership with Blair.

Bankier and Blair were the winners when the pairs last met at the German Open earlier this year. And, while both women have played down their rivalry, there appeared to be no love lost when Adcock and Bankier met in a tetchy women's doubles match, won by the English, on Wednesday.

Almost Shakespearean in the subplottery. Not a lot to choose between them so far. The Adcocks lead 6-4 in the first game. You can watch live on this very website.
