"Nicola Adams hasn't been boxing all that well over the past few years but she is brimming with confidence with the cameras on her at these Commonwealth Games. However, it will be difficult for her against Michaela Walsh. Northern Ireland boxers are technically solid, they have a lot of heart and want to win."

We are just a quarter of an hour away from ringwalks in the women's flyweight final between England's Olympic champion and women's boxing's poster girl Nicola Adams and her pretender Michaela Walsh of Northern Ireland.

While Adams has been all smiles on her way to the final, Walsh has been a bit more businesslike and stern. She has made no secret of the fact that she believes she can and will beat Adams.

"She's the golden girl but I'm coming up and I want to be the new golden girl," she said after winning her semi-final.

"See you all tomorrow with a shiny Gold medal!" she tweeted last night., external.

Table Tennis England have taken a stance of complete neutrality in the nixed doubles final. There are no coaches in either pair's corner for the gold medal match.

It is the husband and wife team of Paul and Joanna Drinkhall who have come out of blocks quicker. They have dominated the first two games to build a 11-7 11-3 lead against their younger rivals.

England's Natalie Blake on winning silver: "This is my first Commonwealth Games, so I was just wanting to make some good lifts and see what happens at the end. I wasn't expecting the silver - it's a tough competition out there so I was hoping to get three good lifts and maybe a bronze medal.

"It is a day for indoor Commonwealth Games sports. A volunteer said 'it's the worst day for weather we've had here,' while smiling and using a large foam hand to point me towards the table tennis showcourts.

"This is where 15-year-old Londoner Tin-Tin Ho and her playing partner Liam Pitchford will try to overcome the Drinkhalls, Paul and Joanna, in the all-England mixed doubles final. A journalist told me on the way to the venue to watch out for Tin-Tin Ho's father, Charles, who apparently is far more extrovert than his daughter. I'm on the lookout."

When Charles was interviewed by the BBC at the start of this year his first words to the camera were: "My name is Charles Ho. I love table tennis, which is my priority in life."

Tin-Tin is so named because the initials are the same as the sport. Her brother is called Ping. Read more about the family here.

Kelly Sibley lands her final backhand onto the very edge of the table, the ball shooting sideways and out of reach of her Singaporean opponent to ensure her and doubles partner Danny Reed a bronze medal.

Tears of joy from both as the Scotstoun arena ripples with red and white banners. Intoxicating stuff and that was only for the bronze.

Next their English team-mates Tin-Tin Ho and Liam Pitchford and Paul and Joanna Drinkhall will scrape it out for gold.

A tremendous performance for all three pairs and the team as a whole regardless of the result of the final.

    Nick Hope

"Tom Daley says heavy strapping and icing of his muscles is 'just a precaution' ahead of tonight's 10m final. 'If you freeze a chicken breast it lasts longer, so this is just the same - making sure my muscles hold out,' he tells me. Daley also says he still has no idea what will come out of every 'demon dive' routine, saying he 'hopes' it goes well tonight."

  18. Men's 10m platform preliminariespublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 2 August 2014

England's Tom Daley, who qualified in first position for tonight's final, speaking to BBC Sport: "It's always tough going into preliminaries knowing you're already in the final. I needed a few bad dives to realise I wanted to lead the way. In the end I had 38 points over second place.

"It will be a tight battle tonight, anything can happen on the day with diving, we have to wait and see how it goes. You have to deal with pressure in any sport and if you can handle it it helps you to get the best results.

"Missing out on the gold before does make you want to go out there and take it. I'll give it my best shot."
